Chris is a weather vane. Maybe he knows the worth of the spying allegations (none).
I agree with your assessment of the validity of the allegations. I would, however, make a distinction between their worth and their significance.
This may be the last, desperate, gamble of the left in what is turning out to be the war for the future of human civilization. At least their last tactic that is even modestly within the bounds of "acceptable political combat." They are falling back on their playbook of 1973 and attempting to frame this as they did their "silent coup" against Richard Nixon. Well, George W. Bush is not Richard Nixon and their gambit will fail on that level.
So, this is a good thing, right? Not necessarily. When vicious animals are backed into a corner and see that they are going to be wiped out they don't just give up, they strike back. Look at what is beginning to happen in Latin America, Russia and some parts of Africa. The forces of death are on the march and their target is us. We beat them back on this BS gambit and bullets are going to start flying, bombs are going to start going off in unexpected places, oil supplies will be cut off and any available American targets will be attacked.
We are going to win this particular skirmish and, in fact, will likely give the forces of evil a serious drubbing in the process. I think Harry Ried may end up in an orange jump suit, along with several other choice demon seed. But don't mistake that for victory. This is the last skirmish before the all out war. Check the ammo, sharpen your swords and gird your loins. This isn't going to be pretty.
I heard Matthews say on Friday, that if Iraq does succeed in the formation of a democratic government then Bush deserves to be put on Mt.Rushmore. I then sh*t my pants and looked outside to see if Superman was circling the earth to make time turn back.
