Tear Down This Analogy
National Review ^ | December 20, 2005 | Rich Lowry

Last week, the House of Representatives voted to establish a dictatorship in the United States and to prevent hopeless citizens from escaping it. That, at least, is what the casual listener might have concluded from the rhetoric mustered in opposition to the building of a better security fence on the U.S.-Mexico border.

I think both. That would be in line with the assimilation process that has taken place over the past few decades. You don't have to adapt to America, America will adapt to you.

This whole idea of a fence/wall is a waste of taxpayers money and a gigantic pork project for unionized wall builders. The desired result could be completed with a few bulldozers and a few thousand miles of razorwire layed in the 10' deep x 20' wide pit dug by the bulldozers. Asking citizens to dump rattlesnakes in the pit as they find them as well as a few bunnies every now and then might add an environmental flavor to the project.
