Just a side note, I'm not excusing his actions but it is something for us to all be aware of because one day you may be in this situation. My mother, rip, had angioplasty, and aftewards became suicidal. This is one of the (and of course I'm biased) God fearing, most positive, religious women I have known and taking her life is the last thing she would have ever done. The doctors claim this condition is more prevalent among women than men. Thankfully, it wasn't by her own hand that she died but the good Lord's. Just a thought.. Merry Christmas, Happy New Years, Happy Hannaukah and Happy evrything else I missed.

Isn't he the former Expo that claimed he pitched his no-hitter while high on something? (pot or coke?)

but it wouldn't be worth a nickel of it to have this guy's problems.

I can't wait to hear what they are.

It couldn't have been Reardon, since he was a relief pitcher for his entire career and never started even a single game.

I don't know how many Expos pitchers tossed no-hitters. Bill Stoneman, Charlie Lea and (maybe) Dennis Martinez are a few that come to mind.

Don't be so quick to rule out a bad rx drug interaction.

there might be a tear or 2 shed in prison though.

Just during the "breaking-in" period. Perhaps he can watch "Bareback Mount Me" in jail to convince himself its all romantic.

Now I need to know, But for some reason I remember a bearded Expo pitcher talking about pitching a no-hitter while high. Maybe he tag-teamed a no hitter with a starter? He also said he ate hemp on his cereal. This bothers me, I need to go google this. Thanks for the help.

"He said it was the medication that made him do it and that he was sorry,"

He's right...LOOK!

"No, that is what he said. He said some drugs that he was taking for some condition made him rob the store. LOL."

Wait. He's right. When I was a kid, before they discovered baby aspirin causes reyes syndrome, I took baby aspiring. I robbed four banks and a restaurant. My attorney has told me not to mention some assassination or other because of something about a statute of limitations or something.

Oh, and I played major league baseball, too, coincidentally enough.

See, drugs can too make you do bad things.

The hemp on the cereal story is Bill "Spaceman" Lee, who despite his weirdness was a pretty decent pitcher for the Red Sox and Expos. Don't recall him pitching a no hitter though.

I think you are right. It might have been Charlie Lea also, he was an Expo in the 80's also. I can't find anyting on google. There was a book written by this person who admitted being "high" etc. when they pitched or threw a no hitter. I am all confused now.

Heard this morning that Reardon made 9 million a year. He is still getting pension checks of 6 figures a year plus he has no finanical problems and is still wealthy.

JMO but maybe, just maybe the drugs did bend his brain. This is the only explanation that makes sense. Unless he was in debt up to his eyeballs.

How come no one ever blames drugs for any good deeds they do? It's the same way with voices. People who claim to hear voices always say they tell them to do bad things.

I can't make any sense of it.

I mean if he was running around naked and howling at the moon, it would easier to blame the medication, but he tried committing robbery.

That said, if he was in debt (and nothing anywhere suggests he had any kind of financial problem), he could easily have made a ton of money off of selling memorabilia, endorsements, autographs, etc.

Pete Rose is a living disgrace and makes good money, Reardon would have no problem making money or even getting a job in MLB as a coach or something.

None of this makes any sense, I can't figure it out at all.

I think your thinking of Bill Lee, aka the spaceman who pitched a no-hitter while tripping on acid.

You must be thinking of Bill "Spaceman" Lee -- one of the most colorful, flaky players in baseball history. If my memory is accurate he pitched for a number of teams, including the Red Sox and Expos, from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s.
