That is why I said, drugs bending his brain is the only thing that does make sense in this case.

It sounds like he's referring to Bill Lee, but I don't think Lee ever pitched a no-hitter.

How come no one ever blames drugs for any good deeds they do?

I must know the only guy who actually blamed good deeds he did on christmas on drugs.

LOL, he went and bought a few thousand dollars of toys and clothes and drove around giving them to charity organizations, while also cutting checks to various groups.

It still bring tears to my eyes remembering him crying the next few days and blaming the drugs for his "do goody binge of insanity".

All year round he was generally as ass though.

I think Reardon may find it a different when he is "sent to the showers" this time.

Bill Lee did toss a no-hitter, but his version of the drugs and stuff has a few holes in it.

No - you are both wrong. I mean Bill Lee certainly partook, but he's not the drugged up no-hitter guy. The pitcher in question is Doc Ellis of the Pirates, who took LSD and pitched a no-no in (of course) the 70s.

Now the thing I always wandered about is how did his next game go? I mean, if I took LSD and immediately pitched a no-hitter, you can bet the farm I am doing the EXACT same thing my next outing. I would have figured I tapped into THE secret. So I wonder if he crashed big time, or had a decent outing. Dropping acid and playing ball is one crazy combo - but after a no-hitter I'm passing up the trainer's office and calling Timothy Leary.

He may be a person incapable of handling all the problems in his life. Perhaps he was subconsciously angling for copacide in the bank foray.

Now I need to know, But for some reason I remember a bearded Expo pitcher talking about pitching a no-hitter while high. Maybe he tag-teamed a no hitter with a starter? He also said he ate hemp on his cereal. This bothers me, I need to go google this.

Bill Lee.

He committed the robbery, claming in a note to have a gun, though he didn't have one. He grabbed some money and ran out of the mall. He then walked up to a security guard in the parking lot, confessed and showed him the shopping bag with the money. He waited with the guard for the police to arrive and cooperated, apologizing all the time.

This is a person with problems, not a person to be condemned. He apparently doesn't have financial problems, has had recent personal tragedy and has just had major surgery. He is under heavy medication and it sounds like the doctors got the dosages or interactions screwed up. We are all lucky that this is all he did under the circumstances. Particularly him. This is a classic case of someone who needs help, not punishment.

Yep, Dock Ellis it is. I believe he told this story in some detail.

I've done some research on the subject, and I can't find any record of Bill Lee pitching a no-hitter. I know Charlie Lea pitched one for the Expos back in the early 1980s, but nothing on Bill Lee.

Paxil ... oh, jeez ... my ex-wife started taking that stuff when we were still married and a within a year she was the most angry, delusional and self-centered woman I've ever known ... a year after that we were divorced. That stuff makes you CRAZY.

If he indeed was taking Paxil I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

also underwent a heart angioplasty

This is not traumatic, just a look-see by the doctors. I've had one myself. Not traumatic.

And I didn't get any medication for it, either.

Thank you both for the input. Bill Lee is the person I was originally thinking of but the info about Doc on LSD is quite entertaining...I now need to google that to read more (for entertainment purposes only)
