JERUSALEM - Israeli jets attacked a Palestinian militant group's training base in southern Lebanon early Wednesday, hours after an Israeli border town was hit by rocket fire, the military said.

The base located south of Beirut is operated by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a small group that has been waging a decades long fight against the Jewish state.

"This is in response to the firing of projectile rockets last night toward Israeli communities," the military said.

It said it views such attacks with "extreme severity" and holds Lebanon responsible.

There was no immediate word on casualties or damage in the strike, launched after three rockets landed in a residential area of Kiryat Shemona. The army said the rockets damaged some property but caused no injuries.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. Both Hezbollah guerrillas and Palestinian militants operate in nearby southern Lebanon.

The raid came a month after Israeli jets attacked a command post of the Hezbollah guerrilla group in south Lebanon, responding to Hezbollah rocket and mortar attacks that wounded 11 Israeli soldiers and damaged a house in a border community.

Israel withdrew from an occupied enclave in southern Lebanon in 2000. While fighting in the area has dropped since then, the border remains tense and Hezbollah frequently targets Israeli troops in the disputed Chebaa Farms area.

Lebanon and Syria say Chebaa Farms is Lebanese territory, but U.N. cartographers who surveyed the border after the Israeli withdrawal said it belongs to that part of Syria which Israel has occupied since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. Israel says it will discuss control of the area only in future peace talks with Syria.

Well it appears you have a rather functional crystal ball. Where the heck you purchase it from. Yea. It was a matter of time. The slime balls shall continue to play games. Surely King Abdullah is not liking his country to be used by these filth bags for such rotten cowardly acts. These Islamos are just digging themselves deeper into a hole they are not going to get out of. As we read, there are certain elements of their various clergy and organizations in general that are starting to open up. Sure there are so many forms of Islam and none agree with the others on many issues and as we appreciate some are considered non-Muslim and filthy dogs, etc., but things are heating up. Let them start to kill their own filth bags as the compromising forces build up. I continue to think GWB and company are no where as stupid as some may make them out to be.

It's about time we and Israel team up and take out Syria and Iran, That should isolate N. Korea quite nicely :-)

Think we will give them support? Or is Bush too crippled from the left attacks and the warm up for impeachment.

LOL, No way, The Democrats have come to a gun fight with a knife.

Keep in mind that GWB OK'd the sale of several hundred "Bunker Buster" bombs to Israel last year!.... Do you think Israel purchased them to deal with Hammas or Iran?

Hopefully President Bush will allow those "Bunker Busters" to be carried by our super top-secret B-3 bomber.

Re your #32: " ...but, what does Condi say?"

Probably whatever some bug mucketty-muck Muzzie oil mogul Sheik in Saudi Arabia tells her to say, if past performance is any indicator.

And I wouldn't bet on it's being of much good for Israel, unfortunatly.

I think Isreal worries too much about the worlds reactions. The should just wipe out as many terrorists as they can find. Believe me if it happened on a thursday afternoon, no one would care by saturday nor remember by the following tuesday.

Re your #54: Dream on.

I'm afraid that Saudi Arabia has way too much influence on US policy to allow us to do much of anything with Israel or on Israel's behalf. American taxpayers fund the Palithugs as much as we do the IDF, don't we?

When it all comes down, a'la Ammegeddon, as I suspect it may be about to, I think that we (America) will be ordered to stay out of it, and I think that we will reluctantly obey. At least officially.

Anyone who goes over to play in the last big one will be going over on their own - if they can get there in time, that is.

I know I'd want to.

Lebanon must be held responsible as long as they cling to the charade that they control the territory. Lebanon must either exert the rule of law or abandon claim to the land. They can't have it both ways.
That's like Gov. Blanco refusing to allow the Feds to control NOLA, then complaining when it's a horrible, out-of-control mess.

Why hold Lebanon responsible?

Doesn't seem to me that they ~are~ holding Lebanon as a country responsible. They were taking out a terrorist target that happened to be in Lebanon. Seems to me also that Lebanon wouldn't "retaliate" either. To do so would put them in the position of defending PFLP which I don't suppose they'll wish to do.

What "charade that they control the territory"? They've only just lately shoveled out the stalls of their late Syrian puppeteers. I don't think even the most optimistic would advertise that they are in complete "control" of all the underground Pali/Syrian factions there.
