What? 'The 1st Annual (Everybody-Fully-Outta-Da-Closet)
Flaming Pervscer Awards Ceremony'?
It made $2mm on its national release this weekend.
Don't bet anything you can't afford to lose on that prediction.
I'll just make it a LOTR Trilogy night with some buddies and beers instead of watching this agitprop for 'progressive' ideals We'll bet on who can last the longest into the night without passing out. Barring that I'll just watch Patton!!
In fairness, it has opened on 217 screens, compared to 3,000+ for King Kong and Chronicles of Narnia. Will it beat those two when it gets wider play? Not hardly. There aren't enough liberal true believers who'll see it 18 times.
DO NOT go see Family Stone.
Holliweird tried as hard as they could to throw everything into this movie. A deaf gay man married to a black man, who they adopted a child, with a mother with breast cancer and the sibling sons exchanging lovers and a dad smoking pot with his grown child. We WALKED out!
Disgraceful LIBERAL AGENDA. The movie was full and I am sure in conservative Texas that did not go over well with all who thought there were getting a family type movie.
The only place this piece of defectisexual fantasy
porn, is going to get a big box office draw, is in
"Blue State" Metropoli where the defects collect,
and it's *allready* been there, and done that for
two weeks...and even those "select" theatres have
seen a dramatic dropoff in attendance...Only
those "into that" and hard core lefties, will
go to see this propaganda \for perverion flick...
and from wht i hear, even the hard core leftie men,
and those dragged there by ther "hip" female dates,
are getting up and walking out when the two Sheepokers
start perving on each other...
Is it going to get wider play? If they haven't opened it on more than a couple hundred screens yet, what are they waiting for? I doubt there are that many theater owners who can afford empty seats.
If it were going to open in any more theatres, it would have done so for the Christmas/New Year's weekends. It only needs to make $13mm to break even.
My wife and I watch too see the imperfections in those people in BRIGHT sunlight(i.e. without perfect lighting & makeup). Also, half of them are drunk and say the most moronic things.
Hahahahahaha, awards for Backdoor Mountin'? Who cares? Let them have their idiotic award, they still won't get my money.
I am with you. Why would normal, conservative, God-fearing people even watch this crap? I have not and will not. I include the Oscars and the rest of Hollywood's back-slapping awards ceremonies in that group also.
I do not think many Oklahoman's will be going to see Brokeback Mountain. That movie is only getting all this hype because of the media.
I am saddened that Heath Ledger played a role in that movie. He is so good-looking and was wonderful in The Patriot with Mel Gibson.
That's probably true of some more expensive porn films. This movie sounds like just a slightly more expensive example of that genre. If they make a few million on it, nothing will be proved other than that porn sells to a niche audience - and we already knew that.
I doubt it. . .I saw somewhere that Broke-butt Mountain opened in something like 200 theaters nationwide, and a week later, numbers are already approaching zero. . . .
You'd think, after Narnia, The Passion of the Christ, and Lord of the Rings, and, heck, even Spiderman. . .that decent movies with family positive values will pack 'em in to the theater week after week. . .and shows like Broke-Butt Mountain. . .well, THEIR target audience is busy packing something else into another place where the sun don't shine. .. .
Haven't the ratings gone down the last few years? I won't be watching.
Thanks - will be a-pinging later today.
I'm rooting for Squid and The Whale...Although it really wasn't a comedy, per se.
