Sinclair was the 1934 Democrat gubernatorial nominee in CA and managed to lose the race at the height of the Great Depression, which the Democrats blamed on Republicans for at least two succeeding generations.

In 1977, Dingbat Massachussetts Governor Michael Dukakis proclaimed August 23 "Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti Day."

Spencer Sacco, grandson of Nicola Sacco receiving proclamation from Michael Dukakis, effectively absolving the two men of their crimes.

Therefore, I, Michael S. Dukakis, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ... hereby proclaim Tuesday, August 23, 1977, "NICOLA SACCO AND BARTOLOMEO VANZETTI MEMORIAL DAY"; and declare, further, that any stigma and disgrace should be forever removed from the names of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, from the names of their families and descendants, and so ... call upon all the people of Massachusetts to pause in their daily endeavors to reflect upon these tragic events, and draw from their historic lessons the resolve to prevent the forces of intolerance, fear, and hatred from ever again uniting to overcome the rationality, wisdom, and fairness to which our legal system aspires.

If the world was run by liberal moonbats, this dumbass would have been President.

And Hauptmann was guilty. And Stalin. And Mao. And Trotsky. And Che. And Hiss. And the Rosenbergs. And Ted Kennedy. And Fidel. And Mumia. And Tookie. And so on.

Of course. Its also amazing to read the astonishment of the liberals quoted in the LA Times article. Shattering ones faith based on lies is quite traumatic.

"My wife is absolutely certain that if I tell what I believe, I will be called a traitor to the movement and may not live to finish the book," Sinclair wrote Robert Minor, a confidant at the Socialist Daily Worker in New York, in 1927.

"Of course," he added, "the next big case may be a frame-up, and my telling the truth about the Sacco-Vanzetti case will make things harder for the victims."

So like a good leftist he lied to protect people from future and imaginery crimes.

The mainstream media let Kennedy off the hook in 1969, an act of absolute moral cowardice.

Oh,how little you know about Massachusetts politics and the Kennedys. The media was only part of the reason why the senior Senator from Chappaquiddick got away with it.

Ideale Gambera, whose father was a Boston anarchist in the 1920s, said he could empathize with Sinclair's angst about revealing his doubts.

Gambera, 80, said there was a strict code of silence to protect the group and hide the nature of their activities. He said his father, Giovanni Gambera, a member of the Sacco-Vanzetti Defense Committee, told him before he died in 1982 that Sacco was one of the killers.

"They all lied," said Gambera, a retired English professor living in San Rafael. "They did it for the cause."

Then they were accomplices as well.

There is no end to the inanity among professional historians,..

True, I read the same story in the LAT, as you mention. It was buried in section "B" page 3. Had this been a story about finding a 70 year old letter from Hitler to the Republican Party in 1935, it would have been on page "A-1", above the fold with a color picture of Bush.

I read the trial transcripts on Hauptmann and found the evidence of guilt convincing.

I have always thought it bizarre that, and here I am quoting from Eric Foner's textbook for undergraduates, "Give Me Liberty" (New York: W. W. Norton, 2006), statements such "[Harding] continued a previous illicit affair with a young Ohio woman, Nan Britton. The relationship did not become known until 1927, when Britton published "The President's Daughter," about their child to whom Harding had left nothing in his will." Well, let's compare this smear of a Republican president with the issue of Chappaquidick. First, the story about Kennedy is true. On the other hand, Harding was physically incapable of having children--he had had mumps as a young man and was quite sterile. Second, the news on Kennedy was ALMOST immediate (or would have been had he followed the law.) The Harding story emerged four years after his death--not when the will was probated. Third, the Kennedy story did not come to light because someone was trying to make money off of it--it came to light when there was no way to hush it up. The Harding story came to light when Nan Britton wrote it up for the direct purpose of making money.

When American historians don't have facts to make their base and fundamentally wrong points, they use words and trust in the ignorance of those young people who have been denied an education in the educational system they have erected.

That's right, citizens of MA would never voluntarily live without any Kennedy. They are as much the culprits as anyone. They really believe in EMK and always will, no matter what the evidence says.

There is clear and convincing evidence that the physical evidence against Hauptmann was planted.

Also, it has recently been revealed that Lindberg's (sister in law I believe), who lived in the house with them had a history of mental instability. Some physical evidence exists that she was actually the culprit. Given that the child's body was located within a mile ot two of the house tends to support the latter suspect.

You guys are simply blowing hot air.

The evidence exists to prove the paternity of Chelsa and Danny williams. All it takes is some DNA collected by a private eye and a few tests at less than $500 each.

Before purveying a hoax you have an obligation ti history to collect the evidence for the record....now while it is still available.

He still believed, despite the evidence, that someday, someplace thuggish, close-minded American Judges WOULD railroad somebody.

Yes but given the chance, would he have recognized George Greer?

Howie Carr,a local Boston talk host and columnist has been following the Kennedys for many years. He's got some great info on them that you'll never hear mentioned in the national press (not even the conservative press).

If you're interested you can listen to him on the web (www.wrko.com) and you'll hear him speak of them often, particularly during his "local hour" (where he discusses Mass politics rather than national). His local hour is from 6-7PM (Eastern) Mon-Fri.

I knew David Wilentz and his family. You've got them all wrong. They were good and decent people (as Democrats could still be, in those days, without freezing Hell over).

Yes, this is embarrassing, but liberals live in such a tightly-sealed world that Dukakis probably had no idea that he was a "dupe."

You can't break through the liberal grip, but you can go around it.
