SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The city of San Francisco reached agreement with the National Rifle Association on Wednesday to temporarily delay enforcing part of a voter-approved handgun ban.
Voters on Nov. 8 approved banning the sale and possession of handguns in the city. Residents still must get rid of their weapons by April 1. But the NRA and city agreed to delay from Jan. 1 to March 1 the deadline for banning the sale of handguns in the city.
In exchange for the postponement, the NRA agreed to abandon its bid for a temporary restraining order and instead have the issue litigated in the courts - a move that will ultimately resolve it more quickly. The NRA sought a restraining order the day after the measure was approved.

Enough time for gun-owners to move out?
LOL. You're a good American!
You'd be darned grateful to have that gun, if you lived in Oakland.
So many thoughts come to mind! ;^)
Lo, how one of the most beautiful cities in the US has fallen. Should disaster befall this city, they can stew in their own juices as far as I'm concerned. The Big One is coming folks, and when the mob runs rampant through the streets of SF...don't call me.
So true. Liberals are an intolerant lot. It's always "My way, or the highway" with them. As such, their cult requires an ass-kicking from time to time.
"From each, according to their means," is their communitarian creed backed by badges, bullets, and pension plans.
Banning handguns (nothing more that a sophisticated version of the axe, kitchen knife, frozen leg of lamb, or hammer) is simply an act to ban behavior(violence).
Conservatives should oppose such bans, as behaviors are ultimately unbannable. What's next: banning smiles, frowns, obstinance, abstinance, insubordination?
With intolerant liberals, all are possible. A free society would simply laugh at these sick f**ks. A not-so-free society must take them to court. And, you know you're screwed when they win.
Nope.
Canada.
I have no trust in the California court system to "do the right and Constitutional thing" in this case. They (including the California SC) have already demonstrated that there is no such thing as a "a bad gun prohibition law." The rotten commie-infested 9th Circuit has ruled that the US Constitution does not protect an individual right to keep and bear firearms. The Cal SC upheld the West Hollywood "Saturday Night Special ban, more or less overturning the state's pre-emption status for guns.
I cannot imagine a San Francisco District court not finding a way to uphold this ban. The confiscation may be another matter, however.
