No. All the prisoners were rounded up and shot due to the lack of a place to put them and not enough food to feed them over the winter.
This is a classic example of why you NEVER tell a Celtic/Scotch/Irish hillbilly that you are going to kick his butt. Once that happens, the hunter becomes the hunted.
The way I heard it, the losers in the Carolinas -- my relatives included -- were dispossessed and took off for the sugar colonies; Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas etc., voluntarily or otherwise.
