The Japanese Military is a quiet powerhouse. They have some of the best equipment in the world and the attitudes about using it are changing.

Cool video

Makes one want to throw both hands in the air and yell BANZAI! BANZAI! BANZAI!

Good for Japan!

Japan * ping * (kono risuto ni hairitai ka detai wo shirasete kudasai : let me know if you want on or off this list):

...and like most other instances, Japan has probably improved on US technology in some of its equipment.

Probably the Japanese and US share tech constantly. With a nuclear aggressive china breathing down Japans neck Japan and the US navy 7th fleet needs to keep razor sharp.

Wow. If the JDF keep drilling like that, they must be the best in region, even if they're small.

It appears the new axis will be Iran/Russia/China, and Japan will be part of the new Alliance for freedom and democracy agaist them. Glad they're on our side.

BTW, weren't they a defeated enemy totalitarian country that was nationally rebuilt by the US Military? Just thought I'd check on that.

Next time, let 'em have Manchuria.

I do hate to see Japan re-arming, but China has no one to blame but itself and its proxy, N. Korea. They just better not get it into their heads again that America's a paper tiger.

About the Japs, historically.

They know how to drill in warfare.

They know the difference between good and bad strategy and weapons.

They base their loyalty on leaders who are competent warriors.

They silently keep an eye on their adversaries and friends.

About the Chinese, historically.

They build huge bureaucracies.

Product sales are more important than product quality.

The Chinese base their leadership on fear.

The Chinese look at the rest of the world as filled with Barbarians who owe them tribute.

Prediction

Sooner or later China will attempt to project its power and assert a historical right to exact tribute. They have an animus with Japan. They failed in two invasions. In turn, the Japanese beat the piss out of them. The Chinese will make a mistake and attack Japan. I'm convinced that Japan has all the means to repel an attack, now.

It's good to understand the measure of a man or an ally.

Few nations take warfare more seriously than Israel, Japan, UK and Aussies.

Japan could most likely have a usable nuclear weapon in a matter of weeks.

They have the industrial capacity, the know-how, and most importantly, a fuel source in the form of their nuclear power plants.

It's been my personal suspicion for 25 years now that they've had one all along.

No reason why Japan can't have stashed away 200-400 warheads. Certainly, they have the reactors. And the technical means. And some fissile material has gone missing, that is to say, a small amount has been lost due to processes and accounting legerdemain. ;)

It would be logical for Uncle Sugar to turn a blind eye to it, encouraging the Japanese to develop a deterrent. We didn't want China to engage in an arms race--which they would if they knew the Japs were arming--and our relations with the Japanese government would sour if we tried to stop them (which would fail).

Any attempt to stop them from arming would merely drive their nuke program deeper underground.

In short: I'm sure the Japanese have some nukes, and I think our government either knows it, or suspects it. It may even have helped in their testing (but doubtful, the development). THINK: How the U.S. helped Israel in this way.

What, no Gundhams?

JUST KIDDING!

I think Japan's enemies, like Israel's, are severely underestimating what they would be up against.

WOW!

"If you win, or you lose, it's a question of HONOR.

And the way that you choose, it's a question of HONOR."

Beautiful, and profound. Whoever wrote the lyrics did their job well. Beats the living he** out of "there's no life like it" (CDN), or "Army of One"(USA).

WOW!
