This blew out of the screen at me.

"How conveeenient! We can change the 'codes' and then we 'have' to upgrade." G*#)(mn gov't is out of control.

Do those codes call for those high dollar walls and countertops? How about CINDERBLOCK and FORMICA, that's pretty damn*d efficient isn't it?

This is a crock...in Louisiana, unless the change is precipitated by a life threatenting event (e.g. lack of sprinklers - not true, the capitol is sprinklered), there is no requirement for private sector, much less governmental, entities to up-grade to code unless there is damage to or a renovation of an existing property that is in excess of 50% of the value of the property.
