'United States planning a military strike against Iran'

The United States government reportedly began coordinating with NATO its plans for a possible military attack against Iran.

The German daily Der Spiegel collected various reports from the German media indicating that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are examining the prospects of such a strike.

According to the report, CIA chief Porter Gus, in his last visit to Turkey on December 12, requested Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to provide military bases to the United States in 2006 from where they would be able to launch an assault.

The German news agency DDP also noted that countries neighboring Iran, such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, and Pakistan were also updated regarding to supposed plan. American sources sent to those countries apparently mentioned an aerial attack as a possibility, but did not provide a time frame for the operation.

Although Der Spiegel could not say that these plans were concrete, they did note that according to a January 2005 New Yorker report American forces had entered Iran in 2005 in order to mark possible targets for an aerial assault.

Some folks deal, and address facts. Not emotion. Personally I work on projects with clients are north of U$D 4 billion in revenues. We deal in reality. On the other side of the side, I would eliminate 17 departments in the Federal Government, increase the NSA, and increase Federasl spending in the military.

However, too many people are to stooopid to read the United States Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

You probably will vote for the Hildabeast.

Six generations of the Davis family have served in the United States Military.

Read the United States Constitution. Assuming you can read, and tie your shoes.

The sad thing about Carter is that many people will be blinded to his true impact on this nation, due to their dislike for conservatives.

Haven't read downthread yet, but I have to say I'd be real disappointed if the US and NATO were not working overtime formulating a plan to deal with Iran, should the need for such action arise. It is the absence of just that sort of planning that made the action in Iraq as painful as it has been. Would have been better to have had the luxury of time in dealing with that but it seems as though 8 years of such opportunity was squandered.

Bottom line we have a despot over there who openly supports erasing Israel from existence (and at least wishes the same for the US and many other nations), so I expect the US and other forces to be ready to take them out, should the level of hostility reach that critical mass where it becomes necessary.

I sure wish Carter had plans, when it was his watch.

How you figure? We're not exactly there (in Iraq) alone. We do have NATO/European allies with us.

Where was France, Germany, Russia, and Spain, and a few others.
