War Plan Red has been known for years. Although the plan was declassified in 1974, the 1935 Army war games were fairly open that they were based on war with Great Britain involving an invasion of Canada. Every couple of years, it gets pulled out, usually by a left wing Canadian professor who wants to use it to tar Canadian conservatives as making common cause with the hated Americans. About 8 years ago, it was even argued that the location of Fort Drum in upstate New York was to prepare for an invasion of Canada (instead of being a pork barrel project by Senator D'Amato).

It is no surprise it comes up now. Canada is in the midst of a general election and the liberals are performing badly. This could be 3-5% to the Liberals (or at least away from the Tories).

THIS is a political campaign tactic? Did some Lib strategist get confused and send out the talking points for his run at fifth grade class secretary? Or do the Libs actually think so little of their own base that they can recycle a tale that insulted the intelligence of a pile of wet stone the first time it was told?

I haven't seen this much bull___ in one place since my last walk through a feed lot.

I'm thinking along your thoughts. The Liberals are full bash America mode and hope to paint the COnservatives as pro-American. THis article is just a propaganda to keep 'evil AMericans and their Conservative supporters' in the minds of and intellectually weak Canadians.

I think the Tories should counter by saying, "Yes, these plans are ancient, moreover the US doesn't need any plans today other than `Waltz right in.' given the state the Liberals have left our military."
