Genesis 1:18, as Man is created male and female, prior to any covenant, prior to any distinction between Jew and Gentile, as I said, the natural institution, not its Jewish religious instantiation of that natural institution.

I repeat, Christianity did not carry over the Jewish marriage rite, but adopted Roman civil marriage. I am not theologizing about marriage, nor interpreting Scripture, I am reporting historical fact.

I have often thought that as applied to Church history, the sequent to "those who cannot remember history are condemned" is not "to repeat it", but "to make it up."

No, Christian marriage is based on the Bible and Mosaic Law, not pagan Rome.

Christianity did not carry over the Jewish marriage rite, but adopted Roman civil marriage.

Some Europeans may have adopted the ritual or ceremony, but Rome is not the center of Christianity.

Pagan Rome legally allowed adultery for the male. This is not a Christian tradition, nor is it permitted by Mosaic Law (which preceeds Rome by several centuries).

Their music was pretty clean and upbeat at a time when a lot of their comtempraries' music wasn't. They did "Nashville Cats" didn't they?

I recall the same thing as you re their music being upbeat. It was fun to hear their records. Their music was a breath of refreshment in a dark time.

I don't remember the song you mentioned, "Nashville Cats."
