You can see how proud Laura was of Sarah Tucker and what a good time she had at that event.

I wouldn't dare miss the most entertaining thread of FR! That would be such a square thing to do.

LOL! I hope you kept your Monday's open, too. You can't miss the Jack Bauer Power Hour :)

It should take me a year to finish. Just in time to go back to teaching.

I admire you for doing this.

And try not to cry too much--you'll embarrass your kids ;)

Happy New Year, hershey. I saw your replies to this thread and wanted to respond. I'm so glad you and others enjoyed IF, by Kipling. The poem is a classic and fits this particular president almost as though it was written specifically for him.

I laughed at your comment re Barney's photo starting your year off on the right paw. Everybody's favorite Scottie is now headng into his 6th year and doggies middle age. Sigh. Where, oh where does the time go.

Oh man! I thought we got to do to our kids what our parents did to us.... <:0)
Believe me I kept Monday open too. Since it has been a few years since I have been in school, I thought i would just take one class my first semester to get started. I am so nervous. I'm used to teaching adults not being the student.

RE: Writing your papers . . . I'll pay for the laundry if you do it--folding, too. :-) Your classes sound interesting! And the food will be fine. What day should I be there?

My husband and I went thru a really tough time a few years ago, too . . . I'm so thankful we worked through it. Our counselor said that most counselors would have probably told us to get a divorce, which is really sad, because the problems (obviously) were NOT insurmountable.

Thanks for your thoughts; mr.h. is right now on his way to the hospital; FIL was taken there this morning and I'm afraid he's septic. MIL went earlier today, then called and asked mr.h to come and be with her.

Congrats on going back to school! How exciting!

Thanks; I appreciate your thoughts. It's tough on MIL and husb. as their relationship with FIL has been so bad recently . . . yet that love for him, in some form, is still there . . .

What did you do to celebrate the new year today? It was a nice, peaceful day here, despite the worry about FIL.

Did you get snow the last few weeks? I heard on the news there was an unusual amount in some areas.

***Put it in a blender!! My idea of ham salad is slices of ham with lettuce, tomato, celery, grated carrot etc with of course coleslaw and potato salad.***

Sure, a blender! Well, I USED to have a blender that cut up meat, including ham, into tiny, tiny pieces suitable for ham salad. But I couldn't find a new one that did that for less than $400, so we use a grater which works out fine.

But if anyone knows of a better way to grind up ham, PLEASE let me know.

Snugs, what you call egg and mayo is what we call egg salad. And ham salad is ground-up ham with mayo, and tuna salad is tuna with mayo. What you described we would call a ham sandwich with lettuce, tomato, cole slaw and potato salad. LOL! What was it that Churchill said about us both talking the same language?

I feel for your husband and MIL, is your FIL aware/concious, prayers that all of them may find some form of peace.

We had quite heavy snow earlier in the week but it has gone now.

I did not do much for New Year for one thing neither me or dad are really in the celebrating mood but we had a long lay in as watched FNC last night to see the ball drop/I was freeping on the dose and on the New Year Live Thread. We then had a nice meal tonight, roast gammon (bacon) roast potatoes and steamed cabbage.

Surely a sandwich would need bread of some form what I described is only meat, and salad ingredients, you can have mayo or salad cream but you would not mix up all together.

Basically I suppose what I mean is sliced cold meat with a side green salad.

Egg salad is the same as above but with hard boiled eggs sliced or cut in half. Egg mayonnaise is chopped up egg mixed with mayonnaise or salad cream.

Churchill had it right about our language.

You call THAT a heavy snow? In NE, a heavy snow means those
posts would be covered with snow! LOL!

MIL thinks FIL knows her. He definitely knew his grandkids when we were all there earlier this week. I don't know if he knew me or mr.h. He hasn't really been oriented to time or place but has been able to respond to simple commands.

MIL just called and she thinks he's doing better. They changed his trach tube (tube in his throat, to provide an airway) mr.h's assessment will probably be more accurate and he should be there any time. Thanks again for your thoughts!

I watched the ball drop last night, too! I hope to be in Time's Square some New Year's Eve . . . but I heard once you get in you can't leave and there are no bathroom facilities, so that might change my mind. :-) Maybe I"ll just get a hotel room overlooking the square.
