BLANCO SPEAKS OUT ON LIES, PAIN, AND GENDER BIAS

Governor Kathleen Blanco closed out 2005 with a cozy, softball interview with her hometown news network: KATC in Lafayette. During the interview with Darla Montgomery, the governor claimed that she was subjected to lies, promoted by Washington, in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Denise Bottcher, her press secretary, chimed in with what has become the governor’s new talking points: laying the blame on gender bias. Blanco also reassured the audience that she would run for governor again, and that she feels our pain.

“There were people at the national level... and they started criticizing the president. Well the president’s people didn’t like hearing that. So they got up on Wednesday morning and started feeding the media lies... making us look bad, making me look bad personally,” Blanco tells KATC.

“One of the things they said was that I had not signed the most basic thing and that’s a declaration of disaster. Darla! I had signed that Friday before the storm! When Louisiana didn’t even know a storm was coming!”

DENISE BOTTCHER BLAMES GENDER BIAS

Enter the lovely, talented, Denise Bottcher, Governor Blanco’s press secretary, heavily armed with the governor’s new talking points. These talking points, spoken by Bottcher in a recent New York Times story, cited the issue of gender bias.

“We had some radio personalities who were talking about the governor crying,” Bottcher tells KATC.

“Women oftentimes are viewed- you know- as crying uh, and that they’re weak, they’re emotional, and that they can’t handle the situation, whereas men if they shed a tear they’re being viewed as very compassionate.”

Bottcher’s footage is followed by footage of Blanco on Capital Hill looking tough at a hearing, pounding her fist, with a background voice saying that “governor Blanco is fighting back, on Capital Hill and in Baton Rouge, as she announces a second special session.”

The camera then returns to Blanco talking to KATC.

“We’re here today, saying to congress and to the president, give us our fair share of the money,” Blanco told KATC.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I SHALL RETURN.

Blanco closed the interview by reassuring the people that she would run for another term. “Of course I’m going to run (for governor) again,” Blanco told KATC.

But the governor didn’t stop there. As the segment came to a close, she reassured us that she feels our pain.

“My pain comes from the pain of the citizens, whose homes are destroyed or ruined,” she told KATC.

Blanco is an idiot. Foster took heat for insinuating she was a puppet but so far looks like Foster had the last laugh.

laying the blame on gender bias

Nice try, but we think Nagin is an incompetent failure too.

Stick a fork in her.

That may rank right up there with the most idiotic things a politician has ever said on TV.

Also, I love the fact that she wants Louisiana to "get its fair share of the money." How typical.

Pathetic. I am a displaced Louisian citizen and although I voted for Bobby Jindal, I do not remember the phrase "gender bias" when she was elected. Now, that her true colors are evident to even the densest, yellow-dog democrats in the main stream press, she promotes the "they hate me because I am woman" theory....no, madam, it is because you are an incompetent fool.

If men "shed a tear" it might be compassion, if they blubber like a baby, they WILL be labeled as weak and deservedly so.

For those of you who have never been to Louisiana, this is the standard snivel. It doesn't make any difference who occupies the governors chair, the machine is in charge. If there is a vacuum between Blanco's ears and behind her eyes, it doesn't matter, it's all a part of the plan. (but, I think that most of us recognized this early on.)

Ahhh yes...of course...BUT...Nagin is a minority!

A usual trope of liberals. Poor performace is blamed on others, and any criticism is deflected by blaming it on sexism, racism, homophobism or some other kind of "ism".

“My pain comes from the pain of the citizens, whose homes are destroyed or ruined,”

she invokes the pain of those she and Nagin harmed, but only points out the loss of their homes (inanimate objects which are absolutely vulnerable to devastating weather), and talks of shares of money......while sidestepping the death and extensive misery her incompetence and partisanship caused by her inaction on the evacuation transportation matters.

This is one LOWDOWM shameless POS La. has for a guv.

Fear not. A big clod of dirt will be hitting Blanco in the head and knock her out of ever holding elected office again.
