So they got up on Wednesday morning and started feeding the media lies... making us look bad, making me look bad personally,” Blanco tells KATC.

Oh, she's wrong; we started criticizing her the Saturday before the storm at that pitiful press conference!

“Women oftentimes are viewed- you know- as crying uh, and that they’re weak, they’re emotional, and that they can’t handle the situation, whereas men if they shed a tear they’re being viewed as very compassionate.”

This from the woman whose plan for the storm was to PRAY that Katrina turned away from New Orleans.

she invokes the pain of those she and Nagin harmed, but only points out the loss of their homes (inanimate objects which are absolutely vulnerable to devastating weather), and talks of shares of money......

But her staff had their offices redone to the tune of $600,000!

My Dad sold off his share of a successful instrumentation company in Texas City, TX in the early 80s and moved back to Louisiana to try his hand at the same thing in his home town.

He decided to bid on government contracts as well as private industry contracts. While he did OK on combined bids in the local market (very large market in SWLA), he was absolutely astounded at the corruption on the state level.

Almost all the sealed bids were opened early and the people handling the bids were openly asking bidders if they could improve their bids. If you actually made it to the next round, they were asking for kickbacks as if there were never any laws written against them.

It got to the point where my Dad just stopped bidding on state projects.

Howlin, you have lost sight of the fact that all those folks that drowned don't really need those homes any more ... and, why should the governess care ... as long as she and her staff are comfortable?

All I know is that JW Marriott wanted to remove his staff and hotel guests from their hotels down there. Blanco and Nagin wouldn't give clearance for several days...

Lost a lot in translation there...

They drag their feet, people died.

I passed through NO on I-10 last week, it looked as if the storm had only hit days before. What the Hell is going on down there? Why is this woman still in office?

One reason that Blanko hasn't been impeached yet is because the state got slammed with Katrina's evil twin three weeks later and the one's who were spearheading the recall simply had to take care of more important things like surviving. Rita damaged more of the state than Katrina. However, the local leaders in swla are competent so there hasn't been much national coverage on all that has been accomplished here.

Don't look at me, I didn't vote for her. 'Course I'm not old enough, but I wouldn't have anyway. By the way, If I am remembering correctly, her home town of Lafayette didn't even vote for her.

Ahhh. There it is. Wonder why it didn't come up in search when I used "blanco"? Might have gotten it if I used "liar" or "thief".

“One of the things they said was that I had not signed the most basic thing and that’s a declaration of disaster. Darla! I had signed that Friday before the storm! When Louisiana didn’t even know a storm was coming!”

They never said she didn't sign it. They said she never submitted it. SHe probably left it under her makeup case while dressing for the hurricane.

Sadly I had to explain this cartoon to my wife 4 times before she "got it".
