Doesn't Bill Mahr call himself a Libertarian?
To: Nasty McPhilthy
I consider O'Reilly an independent traditionalist.
He has no problem running people's lives "for their own good" so he has some liberal positions. He is anti progressive socialism and for traditional social mores so he cannot be a liberal.

The Winter Holiday season is the sacred season of CHRISTmas. I guess this dufus has never heard of Hannukah? Out of curiosity, did Jesus celebrate Christmas? Or Hannukah?

O'Reilly is a weather vane. He points which ever way the prevaling polular wind is blowing.
The Big O is nothing until he has wet his finger and raised it into the breeze.

SNL Gay Communist Gun Club skit
Bob: Hi, and welcome again to the "Gay Communist Gun Club", the organization dedicated to gayness.. John: ..Communism..
Bob: ..and guns. Let's get right to our first caller.
Caller #1: Uh.. I'm gay.. and I'm pretty liberal.. but I hate guns. Could I join the club?
Bob: No, I'm afraid not. You see, while we certainly support your gayness, without Communism..
John: ..and guns..
Bob: ..it's pretty meaningless. Next call, please.

The liberals obviously don't want O'Reilly in their gang. Any thinking conservative wants nothing to do with him. Now even the Libertarians (a group that has run both the lead singer of The Smithereens and an actual Smurf on their ticket) are distancing themselves!
Maybe he can join the hippies or the Buchananites, or both since they merged.

But, the Libertarians care a lot. They are very serious about who gets to wear their club label.
Libertarians were going to have a national convention for all their memberes .. but someone removed the phone booth and they didn't want to hold it out doors..

I remember the whole "who sets the price of gas?" thing that he was trying to push.
I also remember that he thought the oil companies should pay a windfall tax...
It's one thing if your accusing the oil companies of price fixing,
but he wasnt, just accusing them of making a killer profit.
That doesnt sound anything like Libertarian to me...
I would not classify Bill O'Rielly not as a Liberal, Conservitive, or a Libertarian, etc...
I would classify Bill O'Rielly as a BillORiellyian, he lives in his own world with his own
principals, that work well with the rules his imaginary world plays by. And that half of
his show is dedicated to himself, and he seems to be one of the most self absorbed people
I have ever seen in the media.

Good article. Kudos to James Atticus Bowden.
Lets stir the political cauldron a bit more.
The principles of the libertarian agenda support: serious cuts in defense spending; downsizing of the military; destruction of our nuclear weapons; no military conscription whatsoever; relaxed immigration laws; open borders; repeal of all laws establishing criminal or civil penalties for the use of illicit drugs, aka.drug legalization; relaxed worker safety regulations; dismantling of the criminal justice system; abolishing the citizen jury system; relaxing occupational licensing regulations; legalized prostitution; militant gay rights agenda; abolishing all taxation; and an absense of government defense for the unborn. That last one equates to direct support for abortion on demand.
This is not political conservatism. It's anarchy.
