"At least Mary Bono's convictions are deeper than Mary 'sleeping with the enemy' Matalin."

Gross, please don't remind me! Could never understand that attraction!

Shoosh, I was hoping she'd marry Bono. She'd of [sic] been Mary Bono-Bono then.

She then dumps Bono for Yoko Ono and she becomes Mary Bono Bono Ono.

She then goes straight again and classical, marrying composer Luigi Nono (or one of his descendants, since he happens to be dead) to become Mary Bono Bono Ono Nono!

Yeah, but I have to say: the article claims Connie Mack's marriage was in trouble for a long time.

Yet, not so long ago, I remember him plastering photos of his (now divorced) spouse and two young kids all over his campaign literature. If your marriage is on the rocks, I don't think you should be using your family as props in a political photo shoot. (Yes, they're still your family, but, let's face it, you're out the door, for good, into another life, as soon as you land your gig in DC.)

I notice Connie Mack's newest glossy photo info, recently mailed to me even though I am not on any mailing list I know of, does not include the wife/happy family photos.

But, I really don't recall any news "announcement" about a divorce. Consequently, I think ladyjane had it right!

Nevertheless, I wish Connie Mack and Mary Bono well in their new relationship. Life is too short to be miserable and in a failed marriage.

And, as Fr. Guido Sarducci says, if she lived in Doodah, in the county of Doodah, she'd be Bono-Bono from Doodah, Doodah.

Okay, does this mean that one of them is going to give up their seat to move?

Mack, 38, announced his divorce from his wife, Ann, in August; he has two children. Bono, 43, followed with her own announcement on Sept. 28 that she would separate - and ultimately divorce - her husband, Glenn Baxley. It was her second marriage; her first husband, Sonny Bono, was killed in a skiing accident in 1998.

I don't like it, it smacks of Hollywood's marriage roulette.

Well, kudos to you, for being the first to honestly say what some people may have felt reading this article! But, I still believe in what I said: life is too short to remain miserable. :)

From Connie Mack's current US Congress web site bio, there is no mention of his marital status:

Connie Mack

...Mack graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Communication.

Connie Mack was born and raised in Southwest Florida.  He is the son of former United States Senator Connie Mack and well-known cancer prevention advocate Priscilla Mack.

Mack resides in Fort Myers and is the proud father of two beautiful children, Addison and Connie.

He should say he is divorced. Without mentioning his ex-wife, it sounds like he fathered these kids out of wedlock, on the fly.

RE your post #32 - I read some time ago that Connie Mack bought a home in Virginia. I'm not sure how much time he spends in Florida these days, but he has remained popular with FL voters.

I agree with that also. I do find it distasteful to marry someone until somebody better comes along.

If she were to commit a faux paus, would that be a Mary Bono Bono Ono No-no?
