BUSH Poem

THE LEADER by anonymous

Patient and steady with all he must bear,
Ready to meet every challenge with care,
Easy in manner, yet solid as steel,
Strong in his faith, refreshingly real.
Isn't afraid to propose what is bold,
Doesn't conform to the usual mould,
Eyes that have foresight, for hindsight won't do,
Never backs down when he sees what is true,
Tells it all straight, and means it all too.
Going forward and knowing he's right,
Even when doubted for why he would fight,
Over and over he makes his case clear,
Reaching to touch the ones who won't hear.
Growing in strength he won't be unnerved,
Ever assuring he'll stand by his word.
Wanting the world to join his firm stand,
Bracing for war, but praying for peace,
Using his power so evil will cease,
So much a leader and worthy of trust,
Here stands a man who will do what he must.

Hi Mike, Just popping in to say hi before I go to bed. Sorry I haven't been around lately - too much going on. I'll be out tomorrow night again as well. My anniversary was Jan. 1st, but our favorite restaurant is never open on the 1st, so we usually go a couple of days later. Hopefully, I'll be able to hang out on the dose Thursday night.

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Years celebration.

THE DEMOCRATS' BUBBLE
By Tod Lindberg
January 3, 2006

Oh dear, it happened again: By late fall, Democratshad talked themselves into the proposition that the Bush administration was, for all practical purposes, over and done with. A few scant weeks later, in fact just in time for Christmas, Mr. Bush was back, with a respectable and rising job-approval rating and momentum in the news cycle.

By now, this phenomenon has repeated itself sufficiently to warrant a generic analysis. So, here goes.

HOW THE DEMS SAVED BUSH
By Dick Morris

January 3, 2006 -- WHY have President Bush's poll ratings improved lately? Some say it is because he became more visible and vocal in defense of his policies. But I believe the Democrats drove voters back to his camp with their attacks on the Patriot Act and the administration's wiretapping policies.

Bush's Democratic and liberal critics tend to see opposition to the war in Iraq and complaints about domestic spying as two sides of the same coin — both positions that defend what they see as our values in the face of government recklessness.

But while the critics have a plurality on the question of whether the war in Iraq was a mistake, they're in the minority in complaining about the Bush anti-terror policies at home.

FISA Fallacies
Bush’s unconstitutional critics.
By Rich Lowry

Is it written somewhere that the Constitution can be violated only by the president? One would think so, given the debate over the secret National Security Agency program to monitor, without court approval, calls between suspected al Qaeda operatives overseas and people in the United States. Opponents of the program say President Bush has trashed the Constitution, in particular the Fourth Amendment's prohibition against unreasonable searches.

The Constitution, however, doesn't exist solely to constrain the executive, as those braying about the NSA wiretaps seem to suggest. It confers powers on the executive as well as limiting them. If those powers are abridged by another branch of the government, the Constitution is being violated — and not, obviously, by the president.

OUT SIDE OF THE LIBERAL MEDIA BUBBLE,
GEORGE W BUSH CONFIDENTLY SUCCEEDS

THE WAL-MART MODEL
By Michael Barone

The American economy continues to surge ahead, though you won't read much about it in the mainstream media.

Economic growth in the third quarter was 4.1 percent -- despite Hurricane Katrina! -- the 10th consecutive quarter with growth over 3 percent. Unemployment is 5.0 percent -- lower than the average for the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s.
Since April 2003, the economy has created a net 5.1 million new jobs. Core inflation is only 2.1 percent, and gas prices, which surged above $3 a gallon after Katrina, are now down around $2. Productivity growth for the five-year period of 2000-2005 is 3.4 percent, the highest of any five-year period in 50 years.
