How, horrible for them. My heart and prayers go out to these devastated families.

Fox just had a relative on who is going to SUE, she does not know who yet. How sad that this would be a family members reaction so soon after the tragedy.

I also find it sad in that these family members know its a very hazardous job.

"We mourned together, we communicated together, we cried together, ... but then we got our hopes built up, and you just don't do that to people, you just don't do it," a sobbing Anna Casto, whose cousin was among the fatalities, told CNN."

The hopes were not built up purposely, (which would have been terribly cruel) but nonetheless, the REAL TRUTH was devastating. My prayers, my heart, and my tears go out to the loved ones of the deceased, and prayers for the miners as well. We must continue to pray for the sole survivor, that his life be spared.

The stupid media should have never bungled this story. Fact checkers, they're not, and this is a perfect example of their ineptness.

I went on a roller coaster ride like that two years ago after my mom's heart surgery. Three months of ICU and; she may not last the night, her white blood count has improved, her kidneys are beginning to produce urine, she had a blood infection.

It was the worse time in my life.

The media involved here has gone from hero (for relaying the information so quickly) to goat (for reporting it wrongly without first verifying the facts as they were). That said, why was this mine still open? Because the product (coal) was so badly needed that it had to be recovered at any cost? That the margin on the mining and distribution of coal was so great, that the spending of a few lives was an acceptable cost? Too much was being spent to be in compliance with other requirements laid on by legislative fiat, to pay attention to the safety factors tht might actually have prevented this kind of disaster?

I guess everyone is so quick to shoot the messenger that they are missing the obvious miracle - 1 miner survived!

Sure there is a lot of heartache on parade, but I certain that that survivor and his family are glad that he made it. I wonder if the media even cares. I suppose this guy is an inconvenient detail in the rush to exploit a tragedy.

Well I won't play. Personally I'm happy that the heroic rescuers found at least one miner alive. They should be rewarded with praise, not given the cold shoulder just because they couldn't save all of the lost miners. As details come out, it may just be that the others had no chance. Regardless, they did save one life, and we should be joyous for that miracle.

Certainly this is devastating to all involved. However, one thing I wondered.... they originall said 12 alive and 1 dead. Did not one of those families wonder if the 1 dead was THEIRS??? So when it changed to 12 dead, it now meant all of those not considering this possibility were crushed. I don't get it. I would've been the family thinking my guy was the dead one (just the Irish in me I guess).

I'm guessing that the lone survivor is going to need a long, long time to get over the survivor's guilt. How horrible for those families.

My heart goes out to them.
