On another topic, my XP keeps trying to update me to Service Pack 3 but I don't have the disk. How can I stop it from trying to do something it cannot do?

As someone not overly familiar with Windows, I would suggest try to turn off Automatic Updates.

XP Home or Pro?

You can shut off auto updating.

Do you mean Sp2? There is no Sp3 yet for XP. You shouldn't need a disk, you can get the update online through Windows Update. If you are prepared to deal with the setting changes (Google XP service pack 2, you should be able to find some pages on what it changes, and how to make sure everything works afterward), it is a recommended update that actually takes some pretty large steps towards making Windows secure.

Since there is no Windows XP Service Pack 3, it's probably suggesting you upgrade to OFFICE XP Service Pack 3.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx

Click on Check For Updates. If it asks for a CD and you do not have one, then after the install fails, see if there is not a link to install updates where no CD is required.
