Oswald was a member of something called the "Fair Play for Cuba" committee, which opposed U.S. policy towards Castro. He was an admirer of the Soviet Union, moved there, and married a Russian woman. There was also a story several years back from a Russian KGB agent that Oswald offerred his services to the KGB in Mexico City. The KGB boys supposedly thought he was too much of a nut to be trusted. So maybe the story of Oswald and the Cuban agents in Mexico City isn't that far-fetched.

What I'd really like to know is who paid to have The Great Ronald Reagan And John Paul II shot...

Don't know about Reagan, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out who had the most to gain from killing the Pope that lived under Communism, knew it better than just about anyone and had the means to help bring it down...which he,President Reagan and Mrs Thatcher eventually succeeded in doing.

Bareback mounting, starring Lyndon and J.Edgar. Good movie plot.

"with a woman named Marita Lorenz who contends she was a CIA agent sent to Cuba to kill Castro. She says Oswald was there. Extraordinary story that not many people know"

Well, it's not for any lack of trying. It's one of the most over told stories in history, especially given how preposterous it is.

But, as you must know, even the holocaust deniers at Liberty Lobby couldn't defend this claptrap when Howard Hunt sued them for liable.

It's very telling that this bogus fairtale is championed by Mark Lane. The same man who brought us the first JFK conspiracy books, and the same man who brought us the bogus "Winter Soldiers" investigations.

Mark Lane was on the KGB payroll.

Ahh yes, because a lone wacko is just too impossible to believe.

Hmm, I should look up to see what the conspiracy is around the Unibomber.. There's gotta be one.

for liable = for libel.

(And Hunt won, of course.)

they'd probably find a way to blame him for Lincolns too.

I heard G W Bush also withheld health care from George Washington, so he died of pneumonia! Even worse, G W Bush did the same thing to William H Harrison in 1841! Once again, pneumonia and Bush withheld HEALTH CARE!

John Paul II

Actually we know this. It was the Russians, specifically the KGB, I believe. As I recall it was because of his support for the Solidarity movement in Poland. I could be wrong, though, so if some other FReepers remember it better, please correct. I do know it was the Russians, though.

There's no doubt it was the Russians behind JPII's shooting.

I've always thought it more than a coincidence that he and Reagan were shot within months given the project they were working on together.

Even if Ruby was part of some conspiracy(which there is no good evidence for) the Cubans or who ever Oswald was working for/with could not have been sure he was silinced.

So? A murderer lied also. You see that all the time. I don't know where Ruby fits. He obviously never seemed like the kind of guy who would do the "patriotic" thing and kill the guy who took out the president. But all credible evidence gathered during the investigation points to one gunman firing from the sixth story of the book depository. A multi-shooter conspiracy to murder the president of the United States in public view and with the help of government officials willing to play dumb in order to let (insert group or nation here) get off is preposterous in the first place.

"...he was a vocal proponent of Cuba and Castro. "

Sounds like Maxine Waters of today.

My guess is that this guy had a lot to do with the JFK shooting:

Oswald almost had to repeat the rifle course and the entire boot camp because his shooting was sooooooo bad.

On Nov 22 Oswald used an $18.00 rifle, made for the Italian army in 1945. The Warren Commission found he made the shots with the help of the magic bullet which caused SEVEN different wounds in JFK and Connally. Half of the ammo Oswald used, when tested, misfired, it was eighteen years old.

There's much, much, more: read ULTIMATE SACRIFICE by Aldman and Hartman. This book is new, latest assassination stuff in it, they say the mafia was heavily involved.

I still think it was LBJ and Hoover with the help of some professional hitmen.

Now wait. I thought Kennedy promised never to invade Cuba as a compromise to the missile crisis. He also withheld air support for the Bay of Pigs invasion so he seems more of an asset then threat. I also believe Oswald was a "patsy" as he stated.
