Senate Democrats also 'ensnared' in scandal [MANY DEMONCRATS INVOLVED INCLUDING HOUSE MEMBERS]
Washington Times ^ | Jan. 5, 2006 | Amy Fagan

The National Republican Senatorial Committee said yesterday that almost all Senate Democrats have accepted money from scandal-plagued lobbyist Jack Abramoff, his associates or his Indian tribe clients.

"I think Democrats might want to be a little bit careful before they start pointing fingers," said Sean Spicer, spokesman for the House Republican Conference. "This is something that has ensnared both parties."

The Senate campaign committee said 39 of the Senate's 44 Democrats, plus Democrat-leaning independent James M. Jeffords of Vermont, have taken funds from Abramoff, directly or indirectly.

Republican pollster Whit Ayres said Republicans hope Democrats will be equally ensnared in the fallout to Abramoff's admission to purchasing support from lawmakers for his clients' initiatives.

The five Democrats excluded from the NRSC's list are Daniel K. Akaka of Hawaii, Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia, Mark Dayton of Minnesota, Herb Kohl of Wisconsin and Frank R. Lautenberg of New Jersey.

It is good to see someone reporting on this. The mainstream media is attempting to smear just republicans when they know their democrat buddies are also involved.

Oh, so it was ok then? right?

It's hard to get excited about any of this. It seems like it is business as usual in DC. The place crawls with lobbyists but proving some sort of Quid Pro Quo seems almost impossible. Perhaps there was something stupid said in an email or something but I see this fitting into the "culture of corruption" theme the Dems are pressing but not going any further than that.

What you have to understand is that the "patriotism" exhibited by the DU, and the Dem'crat party in general, includes not the US, but the whole world. Whatever diminishes the "nationalistic" sovereignity of the US is, in their eyes a GOOD thing. So the entire Congress is corrupt, this merely proves the US is not fit for self-government, but must subsume itself to the New World Order, in which the US is but one province among a couple of hundred others in the "Parliament of Man".

Therefore, the Dem'crats are truly innocent of any crime in accepting bribe money, although the transaction took place, and it meets every criteria of criminal wrong-doing, according to the laws of the US. It is just that, for them, the US Code of Federal Regulations do not apply.

Your 'strategy' has logic but doesn't translate well into American politics. Vote other than Republican... and you get Dem.
