This one week delay in the vote isn't going to change anything. Instead of Jan. 17 the committee vote will be held one week later.... This is a lifetime appointment and one weeks isn't going to make or break it.So why are they doing it then?

Easy answer: Because they can.
Look at how they dragged out Bolton ... they eventually got lucky because one of dimbulb RINOs fell for their lies.
They will do all they can to drag this out even if confirmation is inevitable.

I don't know.... delay, stall, looking for dirt, who knows.
But there is a rule in the committee that allows for this and it's been used by both sides of the aisle. It won't change the outcome in the long run. The senate has a lot of rules etc that you or I may not like but it's their system.

If Reid is asking for another week, it means he doesn't yet have anything to stop Alito's confirmation. Caving into the Dems again only allows them more time to invent another Anita Hill.
