Congressman Jim Moran ('Rat-VA), in close coordination with well known leftwing groups Democrats.com and AfterDowningStreet.org, is hosting a so-called "Townhall Meeting" tonight, beginning at 7pm. According to the leftwing groups' press release (linked above), this event tonight is one of more than 130 similar events being held across the US this weekend.
From the press release:
Out of Iraq events around the country on or about January 7th.
Most of the events are town hall forums, and several will feature members of Congress, including Bobby Scott, Diane Watson, Jim McDermott, Adam Smith, Bob Filner, Martin Sabo, Jim Moran, Marty Meehan, and John Murtha. Several other events will feature congressional staff, congressional and senatorial candidates, local elected officials, and leaders of the peace movement, including Gold Star Families for Peace founder Cindy Sheehan, and After Downing Street Co-Founder John Bonifaz.
While all of these events will focus on ending the war, many of them will also address Congressman John Conyers' new resolutions to censure President Bush and Vice President Cheney and to create a select committee to investigate and make recommendations on impeachment.
Tim Carpenter, Director of Progressive Democrats of America and Co-Founder of After Downing Street, said: "Progressive Democrats of America is proud to be working with grassroots organizations across the country to mobilize and organize a broad-based coalition to call for an end to the Occupation of Iraq and demand action from Congress to investigate the lies of the Bush administration and their conduct regarding the Iraq War."
Freepers and lurkers can watch the northern Virginia version of these "Townhall Meetings" featuring Jim Moran and John Murtha tonight (Thursday January 5th), beginning at 7pm, live on CSPAN2.
Several DC Chapter members will be Freeping the event outside the venue, and others will be inside the event with questions for Moran and Murtha.
MoveOn.org has alerted its membership to attend the event, as have other leftist groups. Moonbats will no doubt fill the room. I wonder how long into the event it will be before one of the leftist fringers will make the allegation that 9/11 was an inside job led by the President and Vice President.
Moran was quoted in an interview on WMAL radio this afternoon as "welcoming" questions from attendees who support the President. That remains to be seen.
Shame them in public.
DC Chapter PING, for those of you who aren't out there on the streets (like me); you can watch Jim Moron's witch hunt live on CSPAN 2.
C-SPAN has two hours set aside for this love-in.
I want to see Murtha's reaction to Chairman Pace's remarks today.
bump
I am betting that the questions will be screened, and there will be no hardball questions allowed. Afterall, what did AfterDowningStreet.org and Democrats.com pay for when they coordinated this event with Moran's office? A witch hunt.
Call me a cynic.
If it's scripted, I'm going to Seinfeld at 7:30.
I hope the place gets rowdy.
Well, I'm not there, so it'll probably be pretty subdued.
;-)
Buford P could provide some entertaiment.
that right?
Moron has talked already about the room being overflowing and the overflow room being overflowing.
I guess all the lefty groups came through, not just with the money but with the bodies.
Moran says no boo-ing.
Yeah. Moran says no boo-ing allowed. I'd probably be tossed out with the first idiotic statement.
Well, considering that the building is apparently packed to overflowing, BufordP is probably outside taunting the Leftist Moonbats who couldn't get in.
Is the place packed with Code Pinkos?
Heck, AfterDowningStreet and Democrats.com put out a press release today that claims credit for this "Townhall Meeting."
I tried ... got nauseous looking at him.
This no townhall meeting. It's a rally.
Murtha: "Smallest Army since 1941... enlistment fell 6,600 short."
