I'm more curious why the Republican Party seems content to keep the race competitive for Democrats.
Democrats by rights should be buried. they keep letting them back in the game. It's only a question of which will screw up last before the elections. It'll probably be the Dems, just because their mistakes involve treason and obstruction which usually trumps lack of a spine.
But I agree it's curious that the Party would allow itself to be held hostage to the Hard Left, except it makes sense when you consider they propose appeasement and carrots against our enemies. They are merely following what they preach with their own base, except that base keeps getting more invasive and uncontrollable and soon will entirely control it all and toss off the old leadership. As usually happens. And they are allowing it to occur. Do they see it coming? Too sacred to prevent it? Who knows.
Now you've done it. They now have word from an "inside conservative" (you) that Judge Alito has Nazi ties. My guess is that they will try (again) to make a mob connection, and also bash (implicitly) his Catholicism.
Could you imagine what would happen with these folks if Stevens were to pass away?
What else is new? This is what democrats do. It's their MO. They have no ideas. They don't really care about Iraq, or they'd be happy for the Iraqi people who were rid of one of the most brutal tyrants in modern history and are now transitioning to a democracy. They really don't care about the so called "wiretaps" or they'd pointing out how the President and only the President has the authority to do this to Americas foreign enemies. They really don't care for the so called common man, or they'd fix the rotten public education.
Anything they can do, and I mean anything to stop Alito, they will do.
They don't care, they just want more and more political power.

I did hear on , I believe on C-Span, that the dems want a week delay after he appears before the Judiciary Committee.
I don't know if it's before they vote or after. Expect Spector to let them have their way. Perhaps it will give them time to go on TV and explain their NO vote before they have voted and generate a new poll determining Alito is armed and dangerous. "Outside the mainstream" I'm so excited for the hearings to start!!! I think the dems will be drinking their own marxist kool-aid on this one!!

The only reason the Democrats are still around is the Media. The media just restates all the liberal talking points and certain dumb people in this country believe it.
Try to sit through 5 minutes of any Evening News show w/o turning to HGTV, the Discovery Channel or The History Channel.
