I would like to see a Campaign Finance Law that states that after an election is all paid for any monies left over from that campaign be given back ,or donated to charity ,or be paid in taxes to the IRS.
Leaving this money in the coffers of incumbents places a strain on anyone running against them. These people take this money and do what they like with it, Things like helping other politicians get elected that think the same way they do. Its bribe money plain and simple when they are allowed to keep it after they retire.

"Returning" money is a joke and it won't save any of these clowns from criminal charges if bribery can be proved by Abramoff.
That is because "money is fungible".
There are no "good dollars" and "bad dollars". There are just dollars. Unless Cantwell received marked bills from Abramoff she could never establish that the money given to charity was Abramoff's money.
The Pubbies are being hypocrites on this issue as well.
