So what was the "crude" remark?

"Women in the military is a further step in the queering of America by destroying gender roles."

I don't think I can continue this discussion. I honestly can't deal with people treating my sister and the people I love and are closest to with such...neandertalithic disrespect. At least I could acknowledge that others with whom I disagreed had points that made me ponder. You, however, sir, are an anomaly--it isn't often that I find myself truly speechless in disgust.

I'm sorry I even opened this thread. I'm sorry for all the women in the military who haved or will haved served, that had to read these...."opinions".

And you know what? I'll take that trophy I was given back on page one, and I'll hoist it with pride. At least I know damn well who I support.

But seriously, lighten up. For every one case of "harrassment" you hear of, like this article, there are 1000 where the woman took care of the situation herself and moved on.

1 out of 1000 is all it takes to have the whole military on eggshells, as long as gutless officers cave in to the PC pressures. If this guy gets court-martialed for such a petty thing, the "zero-tolerance" PC crap will increase exponentially as everyone tries to do the CYA thing.

Can you intelligently explain your contention?

I would like to know too. It may come in handy sometime.

Well, don't come crying to me when your daughters are soon drafted in the name of full equality and sent into battle to be raped upoon capture. Look at how Jessica Lynch was utterly manipulated. Look at all the "GI Jane" agitprop. Look at how Lyndie England was depicted by her own attorney:
"[Defense attorney Capt. Jonathan] Crisp countered that England was only trying to please her soldier boyfriend, then-Cpl. Charles Graner Jr., labeled the abuse ringleader by prosecutors. 'She was a follower, she was an individual who was smitten with Graner,' Crisp said. 'She just did whatever he wanted her to do.'"

You must be joking. Condoleezza Rice is as strong and capable a woman as there has ever been. Kay Bailey Hutchinson? Christie Todd Whitman? Margaret Thatcher? Yeah, I know she's British but if she lived here, she'd be conservative. Strong, smart women make up most of the female conservative base.

You misunderstand me, I guess it's not real clear. I agree with you on those women.

It was the person I was replying to who said women shouldn't be allowed in politics at all. Opinions such as his that still exist at the fringes do not exactly encourage women voters to become conservative spokesmen.

Holy Crap...

Rodney P. Rempt was my first Commanding Officer onboard the USS Callaghan in the early 80's...

He was only a four-striper back then...

Have I got some funny stories about him...

But unless something has changed about him, I can tell you personally that it wasn't him who unilaterally decided to lower the boom on this instructor...

Some politician from one of the "girls" district got wind of this, and made a few phone calls to see how far they could press the Navy's upper eschelon into seriously disciplining the instructor...

Admiral Rempt (in my direct personal knowledge) is prone to exercising good judgement in regards to "little things" like name calling and other equally incouragible infractions...

I think he was told by his boss what to do in this case...

Kinda bums me out today...
