That was a good article...I just wish he would say some of this stuff on TV...but, it seems he comes across as "non-believing" toward the Bush Administration some times..

BTW...Stephen Hayes has been pounding this point for a long time...and he, too, keeps pointing out that Bush has more than enough evidence to back his reasons for going into Iraq...but, they haven't been made public...

I assume that during this time of war...President Bush would rather be prudent than set out day after day, showing his hand to just prove dems and MSM are idiots.

NO>..and, that is all that matters...

He and Bill O'Reilly have been pushing for Rummy's firing for a couple of years now...and that is just WRONG...

and makes their crediblity in other matters, suspect.

Correct???

Ridiculous, yes? Unless ... she talks to Osama and cohorts.

Maybe a tinfoil hat would help her.

Dems cannot look at black and white as strictly black and negative 24-7 without sounding like radical nutcases even to their base.

But their base are radical nutcases so 24/7 is what they want.

You are oh so correct -- old media never discusses the Kennedy problem with Mary Jo. This does remind of an instance that happened a few years back, I think it was during the debate in the Senate regarding Ashcroft. Kennedy went on a typical tirade...shortly thereafter, Senator Smith (who no longer is in the senate) took to the floor and stated "at least Ashcroft never left the scene of a crime". I almost fell off my chair watching that. It was a priceless moment.

I wish I could have seen that.

"I'll have to double check myself. I am certain every case with opinions issued are published."

That's my point. The judge can issue a ruling but not write the opinion or basis for his ruling. These cases do not provide stare decisis.

I still enjoy reading West Reporters on cases, especially those involving real estate, contracts and criminal.

Point of info: I did horribly in criminal law. I considered it a waste of time. You know, he was arrested so put him in jail. I loved contract law and real estate law. I studied intellectual property and have a patent license.

Guess what I practiced....

You win!! Criminal Defense!

I thought all applelate court decisions were published. No?

No. Not all are published, but all are written. Google ...

appellate court unpublished opinions

... and you'll get a number of examples, e.g., http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/opinions/

The substantive difference is that unpublished opinions aren't persuasive in future legal cases, and should not be cited as providing or applying a certain point of law. That may change in the future

Judicial Conference Supports Citing Unpublished Opinions
Tony Mauro | Legal Times | 09-21-2005

The policy-making body of the federal judiciary on Tuesday endorsed a sweeping rule change that will allow lawyers to cite unpublished opinions in federal appeals courts nationwide beginning in 2007.

http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1127207112718

I suspect, but don't know for a fact, that some opinions are unpublished due to state secrecy.

I agree with the idea of driving home the idea that it's best not to get pregnant in the first place but would also emphasize that she is not holding herself in high esteem if she has sex so early or too easily.

As for the argument about trauma, recent medical studies show that women and girls who have abortions have the same depression as women who miscarry. The difference is that the women who miscarry have more open discussions about their loss and have a better chance of getting better.

Also, my brother was adopted. His birth mom was a teenager and from what I learned, I can't even imagine what her mother put her through. We added my brother to our family, who is a good "kid" (yeah, he's grown now, but there you go). She became a veterinarian and built a happy life and a good family.

My brother contacted her and at first she was reticent about having any contact with him. But her children, siblings etc were thrilled to have another person in the family. Eventually she warmed up.

I guess what I am saying is that yes, there is pain and no, there isn't a magic way to make it go away.

But the world is a better place for her and us because she did have my brother.

I think the saddest part is that any emotional hurt the woman or teenager feels in this whole process is blamed on external forces.

I agree that what we learn from science about pregnancy moves forward. We learn more about the baby's development and the impact on the woman/teenager all of the time.

The only blob there is would be Helen Thomas. :-)
