Good morning, you two.

Dolly, did you ever hear the story about why Rus and I call each other "cousins"? I think the discovery of our "connection" may have been before you found the Finest.

Anyway, here's the story. Awhile back, Rus made a comment about his grandfather similar to the one on this thread and I replied back that my mother was born and raised in the little town of Ashland, Massachusetts and went to the high school and attended the very football games of which he spoke. In fact, my grandparents lived most of their lives there, my grandmother, being born in Lynn, moved to Ashland after she married my grandfather. (All of my family, on my mother and father's side have roots that go back to colonial days in Massachusetts.) I have heard my mother speak many times of the big football rivalry between the Ashland and Hopkinton high schools. So, naturally, I was astounded to find out that The Mayor was born and raised practically just down the road from where my family comes from. In fact, we were both born in Framingham Union Hospital (Rus a few years after me). But, the coincidences don't stop there. His grandmother has lived in Ashland for many years, so Rus asked her about the Masons and, as it happens, she remembers my grandparents who lived on Main Street. In the 50's everyone knew everyone in Ashland, it was and still is a very small town.

I can't remember now, but one of his relatives (his other grandfather?) worked at Telecron in Ashland, where my grandfather worked for many years.

Rus and I had become acquainted on FR long before we realized the connection in our family background. So, anyway, we feel we are practically cousins. Small world, huh?

Another interesting fact: Rus's grandmother has the distinction of being the oldest resident of Ashland. And this lady is one tough trooper! She had health problems recently that resulted in her to having to spend some time in the hospital, but he says she is determined to get well and go home. :-)

I hope your grandmother continues to improve, Rus.

Hope your cold is improving, Dolly. I had a mild one during Christmas. Not fun at all. I took Echinacea and used Zicam and, between the two, something worked and it never developed into one of those miserable, prolonged colds.

Hope you are doing much better today.

What a wonderful story on 'consecutiveness'.. love it!

I have a little "small world" story from FR also. I got to know Kassie over on the ATRW thread & we had a lot in common & eventually exchanged email addys & sent the normal humor etc. one day I looked at her TO: listing & there was my best friend's email address.., Lu, from living in NC 15 years ago. I had moved away to Texas & she had moved to the gulf area/NO roundabout. Lu & I were both dancers, crafters & struggled with issues that will be left unsaid here.. She was in hospital the week I left. She was delivering her last child & I was having an hand surgery & an angioplasty. I have some neat pix of us together in the lovely hospital garb.

Found out this was her ONLY cousin & very dear friend (not all relatives are friends, as we well know)

Well, we never know who we will run into here do we? I keep wondering if my ex hangs out at FR.. he is conservative/republican..

Wow! More FR "connections". I bet there are lots of them, actually. It's an amazingly small world! But still, you have to wonder, in your case and mine...what are the odds? :-)

82nd Airborne being revamped

RALEIGH - By the time a brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division deploys to Iraq this summer, it will have been reorganized, retrained and given much new equipment.

Through it all, the storied 82nd will remain ready to deploy at a moment’s notice to any spot in the world that requires a military force.

"We will be able to respond during the transformation," said division spokeswoman Amy Hannah. "We are unique in that we are not standing down like other divisions."

The division plans to complete the retooling of one brigade by June 16, then start work on its three others.

The military will recognize the changes ahead with a colorful ceremony this afternoon at an airfield on Fort Bragg.

The ceremony honors past commanders with a display of units’ flags and reminds all the division’s troops that a new way of doing business is afoot.

The 82nd’s officers and top enlisted soldiers will be managing more than a reorganization during the first six months of the year.

They will be welcoming a new fourth brigade combat team that will boost the division’s personnel roster to nearly 20,000.

My Sister, my Dear One, I was Feeling a Little Dejected this Morning because of my Chronic Pain, but your Posts of Praise have Alighted my Day! 'The Son of Righteousness has Arisen with Healing in His Beames,' and has Granted a Taste of the 'Hidden Manna' to me! How 'my Soul doth Mangify God my Savior,' Who 'Raises Up those that Be Bowed Down! My Eyes have Been Turned to Him, Who is Worthy of our Worship, Devotion, and Love!

'The Lord is Good to All,' So Very, Very Good! 'His Tender Mercies are Over All His Works.' Tender Mercies, the Mercies of a Loving God, the God Who is our King! Glory be Unto His Name, for His Refreshing Breezes Come Down from Heaven; Comfort and Healing from His Spirit of Love and Grace!

Adoration, Thanksgiving, and Joy-Filled Praise Be Unto our Holy One, our Faithful Lord of Hosts! He Forsakes Not the Work of His Hands, Bringing Blessing when we Need it the Most! Glory to You, our Deliver, our Savior, our Great God! Be with us All this Day in Your Graciousness, and Cause us to Say, 'Your Name Alone is Excellent!'

As my Heart Rejoices in the Kindness of our God, I Thank you, dearest Carbine, for Pointing me to our LORD of Grace and Love! Our King Bless thee from His Throne in Zion, and Grant All thy Petitions to the 'One Who Only Doeth Wonderous Things!
