Hey Martin_fierro, thanks for the ping!

Hey bobbdobbs, don't you mean stupid inattentive drivers = motorcyclist killers. We have a right to be on the road. We are smaller which means less traffic congestion, we use less gas, we get to our destination quicker because of our size and maneuverability, and we have fun doing it.

Hey StarfireIV, you nailed it. Although I am thinking of a teenager on the cell phone, invincible, not paying the least bit of attention and thinking they are the only person on the road right now. "Look at what my Daddy bought me. This is my world, everybody should move."

Hey Beaver Fever, got something against BMW??

BMW K1200S. 1157cc fuel injected 4. 167 horsepower @ 10,250 rpm.
Double longitudinal link front suspension. EVO Paralever front suspension. O - 60mph in 2.7 seconds.

But it doesn't come with a complimentary wallet on a chain.

" Hey Beaver Fever, got something against BMW??"

one needs to sit upright in his seat like a man when he rides. not all bent down in the monkey humping a football pose.

hey will at least a beamer is better than a rice burner.

OK Here we go....

I won't get into the benefits and advantages of modern technology and ergonomics like I did last time. I can't do that without disrespecting allot of Harley riding freepers and I am not going to disrespect anyone or their chosen bike. We are all riders to me. It is a matter of preference.
I can say that modern sport bikes are designed to ride. They are built that way for a reason. That "all bent down" position is what suits my riding style better.
In that position, I am using my arms to support myself and the forward stance lowers my center of gravity and gets me more connected to the bike for aggressive riding. In cruising position or upright position, your back absorbs every road bump you encounter. It feels more comfortable but ultimately has more detrimental effects than one who is in a crouched position supporting the weight with his arms.

I am an organ donor. At least it says so on my license.
I am saying that we motorcyclists are not worried about the safety of riding. We are worried about being run into by a car. Motorcycles, by themselves, are safe as long as one rides with a little sense. But I ask you as a driver, please take an extra second and watch out for that rider.

Your statement is true as long as you say "hot-dogging, inexperienced, show-offs on motorcycles that have more power than they have sense are organ donors"

'cafe racers' have been around since I started riding in the early 70's (at even much longer). I rode them to test drive them when I worked as a mechanic for the 2 bike shops and for myself out of my garage....until 1980 when I took a job in pharmaceuticals. didnt like them then and dont like them now. I also dont like ridiculously extended front ends of choppers where some yahoo doesn't even try to make them rideable. Though I much prefer 'choppers' to cafe style riding. Well designed choppers are eminently comfortable to ride.

With bike's power to weight curve most big displacement bikes are far more overpowered than one needs to go at suicidal speeds. I find this reserve power a godsent to help get out of potential accident situations, and enjoy a brisk stint into speed just for sh*ts and giggles on occasion. But I would rather ride a comfortable full dress hog at normal highway speed (or even a Valkyrie or Gold Wing) than a cafe style. and would have to put a well designed chopper a close second to a dresser.

Just my $0.02... every one should enjoy their own type ride.

the cafe racer style is really cool ...for racing from cafe to cafe.

the problem with them is distance... "crouched down" like that gets *really* uncomfortable after a few hundred miles of straight riding... for distance you can't beat a two wheeled living room like an electraglide or honda gullwing...

Speaking of custom choppers. This is my good friends "chopper". It is actually a 2003 Yamaha V-star 1100. This pic shows it brand new the day he picked it up. The Yamaha dealer in Wilmington chopped it right there at the dealership from a brand new v-star. It has all factory warranties.
I have road it and it is definitely the most comfortable "custom" I have ever ridden.
They do have more radical designs that are simply too impractical to ride. He chose the more sedated version and can ride it all day.
He gets allot of stares from people who have no idea it is a Yamaha V-Star.

And you can believe pixie dust will keep you safe. But it won't and you'll end up an organ donor.

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid across the finish line sideways, worn out, used up, leaking oil and shouting, 'GERONIMO!'"

Hey bobbdobbs you keep on playing it safe and I hope you live to be 120 and manage to hang on to those precious organs of yours.. Mine may be up for grabs someday, but I'll enjoy myself as I choose till then. Constantly sticking that trite "organ donor" line in our faces gets old. We know the risks, so put a sock in it and get back to your Yahtzee.

"Who was denying your right to be an organ donor???

I admit to being fairly new here, and new to this list, but I enjoy it except for one thing, so I'll just ask you about it since you're here.

Why is it that on almost every MHPL thread, one or more of you people who have a heartburn with motorcycles show up to post the same BS?

It's obvious you have no interest in riding a motorcycle and indicated you feel that those of us who like them are somehow foolish, so why are you here?

That may well be, but life is too short to live scared.

Some of us, take chances in our life.

Some jump out of airplane, climb mountains, SCUBA dive, or *gasp* race cars or motorcycles.

If you don't want to, fine by me, but I think you're just another "do-gooder" attempting to tell everyone else how to live their life, and I'm somewhat offended by people who do that.

I'm not bothered by your lack of support for those of us who like to ride, but it does bother me that you would seemingly go out of your way to post that "organ donor" bull.

You don't like motorcycles, fine, don't come to the thread.

I think we should give boobdobbs some credit, he is a freeper after all, and assume he's simply baiting us and not really a jackass. More like a motorcyclist troll. I say we leave him to his Yahtzee.
