I did watch C-span and after the hearing Arlen Specter (who is a pro-choice RINO) said that some of the Democrats made introductory comments that would only be appropriate for indictments in a criminal trial. Even HE was embarrassed and disgusted with their remarks. Sadly, these hearings have become farcical - minds have already been made up and for them it's a matter of their staffs digging for some dirt or playing the "Gotcha" game at the hearings. It's clear already that in the end they'll play the filibuster game. And it's also clear that the Republicans had better use their majority to eliminate Senate Rule 28 and abolish that damn fool unconstitutional obstructionist absurdity. There are only SEVEN places in the Constitution that require supermajorities -- and judicial confirmation is NOT one of them! Let's end these games once and for all!

The latter is not the case. Look at the little fascists sitting behind him and attentively following his reading this crap as if it is the first time he has seen it, which is probably true. These twentysomethings are the product of the famed Massachusetts liberal colleges. They not only believe what they write, they know that even if it's not true, it must be said in order to save the world from the conservative evil they have been trained from childhood to fear and abhor.
They are lucky to work for the laziest, and likely least astute, senior senator in the Senate. They so believe that the end justifies the means that researching the facts becomes essentially irrelevant, so long as the statement really nails the evil conservative as they have been conditioned to do.
Having a senior senator mouthpiece who gets the time to say his piece on CSPAN, will read whatever you hand him and who is too lazy to care about the facts is an ideal situation for these people trying hard to carry out the world view pounded into them by their social studies professor who spent the 1960s through 1970s in a drug-induced haze and who have achieved respectability (in Massachusetts) by associating with a similarly impaired bunch of "philosophers" who believe communism would work if it just were done correctly.
So what we are seeing here is a bunch of ideological liars trying to use a sodden mouthpiece to spread their ideology and who are dumb enough to believe that the rest of us are dumb enough to buy that crap. Ain't gonna work so long as we have FR and FN.

Kennedy and his liberal Democrats can't "process" the notion that racial characteristics don't inherently bestow special privilege. Thus, he can't understand much of anything beyond his blustering pomposity about nearly everything.

Worse, his comments have since been proven completely wrong since the majority of people who "remained" in New Orleans before, during and after Hurricane Katrina had cars and possibilities to leave but remained out of intentional choice. They CHOSE to remain, disagreed as to leaving, didn't want to, chose not to ...
Kennedy is lying out of convenience or he's completely out of his mind and saying anything he can. I think it's the latter.

It was in 2003, but it wasn't a Supreme Court case. It was in an appellate court, on which Alito was one of the judges. Ginsburg and O'Connor had nothing to do with this, unless it did go to SCOTUS without my knowledge, and Alito was the ONLY judge to offer a dissenting opinion. Which is of course insane in this case and shows blatant disregard for the law.

Totally agree, MC... When a situation happens such as Katrina, or anything that pulls on the heartstrings and emotions of the American people, simply put it's "easier" to be a liberal...
