Why Do Europeans Hate America?

Who cares? If it wasn't for America, Europe would now be Greater Germania.

I like this quote - and it really applies to all Europeans...

"What's the main difference between a Russian and an American? An American passionately and with all his soul loves his country and his people, and is offended when any foreigner doesn't share his feelings. A Russian in the same way, with his whole soul hates his country and his people, but gets very offended when some foreigner shares his feelings..."

Why do foreigners hate America:

Because Hollywood has spent years producing anti-American diatribe (garbage) out of a sewer of nonsense.

If you go to many countries other than France and talk sincerely with people, they will tell you they formed their opinions based on movies made in Hollywood.

Seems like we have all the right enemies...as usual.

We're (USA) doing something right.

It was they [Europeans], after all, who made the twenty century the darkest in history; it was they who brought about the two unprecedented cataclysms of the World Wars; and it was they who invented and put into place the two most criminal regimes ever inflicted on the human race--pinnacles of evil and imbecility achieved in a space of less than thirty years.

And now there is yet another "criminal regime" -- this time in North America....

The Democrats.

One of the most profound statements I've read or heard in a very long time.

what's the problem with that guy ?

The Europeans don't hate America more than other countries citizens hate America. And if a country is hated than it's the US and not the entire America ;-) Canada as an example is completely ok. And if something is hated, than it's not the US itself. Blue Jeans, Country Music, Star Trek and Burgers are fine ! People donated their asses of for the vitims of 9/11 and Clinton was God for most of my fellow citizens.

The EU has it's problems with the US American conservatives. That's the guys running around and asking people not to interact with europeans because they hate America. And that's almost 50% of why they are hated.

It's tragical because in my opinion a bit more economic freedom whould be exactly what the EU needs but one would have to see and listen what the US guys are doing. That became very out of fashion recently.

What's wrong with people writing that BS ?

Bump for later read...
but I do know remember that The Los Angeles Times described Revel
as a conservative and wasn't too kind to him.
So he probably is an OK fellow!

If the picture of American society drawn everyday by the European press is accurate, then we must believe that those tens of millions of immigrants from all parts of the world, and especially those who came from Europe between 1850 and 1924, were all deluded fools. Otherwise, why did they insist on staying in the American capitalist jungle with all its evils and not return to the lands of peace, plenty, and liberty they came from? Lost in a hellish cultural wasteland, why at least didn't they write to their families and relations basking in the paradises of Ukraine, Calabria and Greece warning them not to come to America?

It seems we have discovered France's Mark Steyn. :-)

Well done, Monsieur Revel!

Challenged only by this one:

"Democratic civilization is the first in history to blame itself because another is power is working to destroy it."

...which is the entirety of the Democratic party's foreign policy wrapped up into one sentence.

Year #1 in Sweden is up and what have I learned about Europe?

1. Everybody who has managed to visit the States wants to live there. (Swedes, Finns, Russians, French, English, etc)

2. You think the French hate the US and tourists? You should see how they treat their immigrants....

3. America is still the land of opportunity. Even if its only a job packing groceries or working at McD's, you CAN find a job. Over here you need to know somebody regardless of your qualifications. (old boy network).

4. They have no clue what "Customer Service" means.

These "social welfare" countries are getting ready to implode and thats just my humble 2 cents worth.....

"What we end up with in what is conventionally called Western society is a topsy-turvy situation in which those seeking to destroy democracy appear to be fighting for legitimate aims, while its defenders are pictured as repressive reactionaries."

Damn, that's good. Too bad its too long for a tagline...

I thought so too, short and too the point, sums up what would take me about 2 paragraphs to explain.
