Burbank City Councilman Todd Campbell urged patience in the "process" Tuesday regarding accusations that he is under investigation for physically abusing his girlfriend.
Campbell responded from the dais after three residents remarked during oral communications at the City Council meeting that Campbell was under investigation for an incident of domestic violence.
I have not seen these allegations," he said. "I need to see them before giving an informed comment. I ask you to let the process work itself out. I ask for your patience on that."
Campbell, who grew up in Burbank, was elected to his council seat in 2003. As vice mayor, he is in line to be mayor in May.
Police Chief Thomas Hoefel would not comment on whether there was investigation.
Molly Hyman, one of the three who raised the accusation, also accused the council of sitting on the alleged investigation.
"That is not good news," Hyman said.
"What really astounded me was when I went to the city's website and they have [Todd Campbell] listed as being on the domestic violence task force."
Councilwoman Marsha Ramos countered that it was untrue that the council was sitting on any information about the supposed investigation.
"There is no way I would interfere with a police investigation," Ramos said.
She was also unaware of any information that may be contained in a police report of the alleged incident.
Sure is a lot of drama in this town lately.
