Day 3: Questioning Continues
This morning, Round 1 concludes with Senators on the Judiciary Cmte. who did not question nominee Alito yesterday. During Round 2, questioning is limited to 20 minutes for each of the eight- een senators. Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) leads off, followed by the others, alternating by party in order of seniority.

If there are bound copies of the magazines, I'm guessing they are like the books - anyone can walk in the door, request and receive them, then read them onsite. I spent a day there years ago reading some out of print books. I must have shown or given them some ID, but don't actually remember it. You have to be more special than a regular citizen to actually REMOVE materials, but anyone can read stuff.

I caught just the last fifteen seconds or so, but got the impression that this sort of delay is allowable by "senate rules".
What I fail to understand is why Specter let the 'rats delay the beginning of this committee hearing until now - this should have been done before the Christmas (er, um - winter) break.

If the posts up-thread are correct, all Kennedy has to do is contact the NYT for those records.I'm surprised the NYT hasn't splashed it all over their front page leading up to the hearings.
