U.S. and Mexican authorities are investigating a cross-border tunnel found Monday by U.S. Border Patrol agents just west of the San Ysidro port of entry.
Border Patrol officials said the tunnel was about 35 feet long and went underneath an asphalt road on the U.S. side.

Geez, there appears to be so many tunnels at the border there wasn't enough land left to keep this one from collapsing. They'll need to find some solid ground to even build a fence.
Not starting to practice. They've done it before. Many times. Even included power, lighting and a small rail car once.

Naw ... that couldn't have ever happened - otherwise all of the supposedly intelligent Freepers here would allready KNOW that spending billions on a Wall here is just going to be a waste of money and effort.

"They'll need to find some solid ground to even build a fence."
That's what you need - the US to spend billions compacting the ground and laying solid footings for the fences so you have nice solid gound that won't collapse that you can tunnel through.
More BP agents, better technology, the national guard on the border, and a strictly enforced guestworker program in the future will solve this problem.
And by guestworker program, I mean TEMPORARY worker program, ie. no path to citizenship.

... all of these are patches to avoid the REAL problem -
Which is tracking down and placing severe penalties upon those Americans who run businesses based on the attraction of this cheap labor.
BTW, you start putting tens of thousands of National Guard on the border on a regular basis and you can just about forget anyone ever signing up for the National Guard.
I agree with you about going after businesses that hire illegals. But as far as the National Guard, I think that there would be a lot more willing recruits who would sign up to patrol the US Mexico border than there would be to patrol the Iraq/Syria border.

True, but most of them sign up for the National Guard and hope NOT to be called up at all - once you make that a certainty you can forget your recruiting goals.
