If a US citizen is talking to terrorist they need to be spied on!!

Sure. There are already legal provisions for just that. The citizens of this Nations don't have to abdicate their rights to maintain security. They just need a dose of competency in the various agencies which allegedly protect this Nation.

You do realize that the spying that is being talked about is not human but computer. There are network tools for listening to all network traffic that trap key words for later review by a human.

I have actually used such a tool on a corporate lan to troubleshoot network problems. Such a tool can easily capture all sorts of network traffice depending on the filters and traps.
