No it isn't. Better to stick with the present debate. I, for one, found Murtha's comment that if he had his career to do all over again today he would NOT enlist in the Marine Corps to be quite shocking.

OTOH, this is very interesting. Stolen Valor showed there are large numbers of Americans who exaggerate or make up Vietnam experiences. Politicians seem not to be immune from that.

Noooo, I think he said he would NOT enlist TODAY. Two totally different things.

Quite. In my area, bums at stoplights with "Vietnam Vet, please help" are to be seen. Doesn't mean they automatically should hold high political office.

Sister's boyfriend was in Vietnam, got a purple heart and a VA disability....but still is a full blown Commie.
