Democrats May Delay Alito Nomination Vote
Associated Press ^ | January 13, 2006 | Laurie Kellerman

Democrats confirmed Friday that they will make a last-ditch attempt to slow Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito's momentum by delaying the first vote on his candidacy.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (news, bio, voting record), D-Vt., said in the waning minutes of Alito's confirmation hearing that unnamed Democrats will "exercise their rights" to put off next week's scheduled Alito vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Let them do it!!

The only thing the peeples are going to remember from this confirmation is that the Deathocrats made Alito's wife cry. No matter that the old fashioned, out of touch media tried to blame Republicans for this, the peeples know that the Deathocrats made a very nice woman cry.

Delaying tactics and (I hope, I hope) a filibuster would go a long way to opening the peeples eyes just a wee bit more to the cowardice, the low lifes, the nasty, mean, rotten old white men and women on the Deathocrats side that will attempt to destroy anyone that gets in their way.

I love that strategy, let the Democrats run themselves out of politics.

Give them plenty of ROPE TO HANG themselves.

It's fun to watch,...... the MOONBAT PARTY meltdown.

I watched some of the hearings, but as this was a travel week for me so I did not see enough. From what I saw, and have read, the democrats predictably made fools of themselves once again.

By the way, my original comment was purely sarcastic. I am a bit known for that sort of thing.

And something else. It's one thing to delay if you have a reason to, but they don't. All the fuss from the dems and they have no apparent reason to delay except to obstruct and people see right through this.

They better well articulate a good reason to delay, because they haven't been able to explain to normal folks why they're all pissed off in the first place.

You are spot on with post 9.

The other reason they will not filibuster Alito is Justice Bader-Ginsburg. She is sick, very sick. Watch her move, you can see just how sick she is. She is not going to live for three more years if she remains in her job. She may not even live if she retires next month.

IANAD but I don't think she can last 18 months. So, President Bush will have at least one more (and maybe two -- Justice Stevens) spot on the SC bench to fill. The President is not going to nominate a flaming liberal to Justice Bader-Ginsburg's place.

The nomination to fill Justice Bader-Ginsburg's place is where the Democrats are going to filibuster. Democratic leadership knows it, even if the average DUmmie (or MSM talking head) won't look far enough ahead.

Gosh, I thought it was a "manzeer" or a "bro" but not a "bro-zeer." But then what do I know?

First of all, if she is as ill as you believe her to be, let's hope she retires and goes home to rest.

That aside, Bush will have to choose her replacement more cautiously than he chose O'Connor's replacement. Federal Judge Diane Sykes would be a good choice.

I agree Specter has shocked me. I think he needs to go to the mat with the Dems over this. It's been a long-time coming and they need to be brought down a peg or two.

I have been completely thrown off by this unexpected move. Republicans are in hugh trouble. There is no way to tell what the democrats will do next.

I have to retreat to my collection of bourbon before I loose all hope.

Bush should postpone his State of the Union speech until Alito is confirmed.
