You're right... the SCOTUS appointments are the basis for their current insanity, and the 2000 election is the basis of it ALL!

Enjoyable Fox panel so far. Bill Kristol called the dems buffoons and says he is having a great week. Then he work up this morning and read somewhere that Teddy is complaining about the confirmation process having become too politicized and the week got even better. Brit refered to a great moment during the hearings, which I watched again yesterday, when Kohl asked if there weren't times when a judge should get a little creative and imaginative with the law. Brit says that is just what we are trying to stand athwart. Petty point: Mara's hairdresser is on vacation.

NJ legislature banned partial birth abortion and wanted parental notification for minors on abortion.
Whitman vetoed the pba ban but was overruled by the legislature.
She ran some ads against parental notification but I don't know for sure what the rule is here in NJ
FWIW.....Whitman has come out in favor of Judge Alito. Said she nominated him for the Circuit Court and found him to be fair minded on all issues.

And now a word from our REAL Sponsors of Free Speech
The Men and Women who serve,
and have served, our country
are the ones who make sure that
the Politicans and Judges are free to do their job.
We would not have a US Supreme Court
without the protection of the Military.
Politicans and Judges are safe
because of the Military who protect them.
TEST : Call your Senator or Congressman's office
AFTER 5 PM, or on the weekend.
IF you speak to an actual person, ask who's in charge today?
Now look up the phone number
of your local military base.
Call that number 24/7
and ask the live voice you get
to speak with the person in charge.
Send a Thank You while you enjoy your Freedom also.

May be they are already planning something. Dick Cheney is leaving in a couple of days to have talks with Soudi Arabia, Jordon & Egypt. (Remember before Iraq war he visited those countries & they helped, despite media spin). May be he will visit Israel too.
Some time ago, CIA director visited Turkey (asking their bases as per rumor). Joe Biden was all over Alito whether Bush has authority to attack Iran without Congress approval.

Wow sorry to hear that, I saw where you guys had gusts to almost 60 mph, we had 44 knots down here as well, Winter can't last forever. Winter is like the rats latest DNC stalking points, it dies an uneventful death sooner rather than later.

My John McCain (up close and personal) story, from the 2000 South Carolina Primary.
Greenville SC - the 2000 Presidential primary - John McCain had just beaten W in the NH primary and the Straight Talk Express rolled into South Carolina.
I was a McCain supporter - positive that he was the real deal.
I drove to a McCain speech and public appearance. It was a day I will never forget as long as I live.
That day I witnessed John McCain behave unlike any appearance I had ever seen on TV - the man was unhinged.
After a 15 minute canned speech - he decided to address his competition in the primary - George W. Bush. He did so by beginning with, I am Luke Skywalker, and my opponents are members of the Empire. Together we will form the rebellion and defeat Darth Vadar. He yelled this - first pumping - his voice full of anger - his face - beet red - and his eyes - well - they were scary.
The crowd instantly went from supportive - to bewildered.
He obviously didnt pick up on the mood change - because he went on for another 5 minutes - ranting and raving about how everyone was lying about his record - his views - and he, wasnt going to take it any more (remember the movie Network).
It was surreal.
When he finished - and with the prodding of an aid - he left the stage, while we in the crowd just stood there - stunned - and honestly - completely confused.
I asked a woman next to me: what the hell just happened? She answered: that man is freaking nuts!
I came home - walked in the house - sat on the couch and just looked at the wall. I suddenly realized - the man pushed on television - was not the man at all.
I have told this story many times - to many people - and I have heard the same story told back to me by others who have seem similar John McCain episodes.
I am not given to criticize anyone lightly ladies and gentlemen.
I am sure John McCain is a good man - but listen to me - and please believe me.
JOHN MCCAIN is NOT FIT TO LEAD THIS NATION.
John McCain is unstable. John McCain is freaking nuts!

Kennedy, the day after, had nothing bad to say and looked like warmed over death.
Remember on Wednesday, the Specter-Kennedy smackdown? Kennedy was ranting and demanding a vote to subpoena records.
Well, that evening, the holder of those records (Rusher, IIRC), offered them up -- without a subpoena. A cursory examination of them revealed nothing, no smoking gun, no bullet. Nothing. Thus, the next day, Kennedy didn't have any reason to continue demanding the subpoena.
Of course, that Thursday Kennedy found that old article written in the 60s and hammered Alito about it. (Alito may have only read it, but had no connection in writing it.) As it turned out, based on a statement by the publishing editor, the article was written as satire anyway. So that was another embarrassment for Senator Kennedy -- he was grilling Alito based on a piece of satire.

I also think self reliant may be slightly different in Europe than in the US.
Self reliant to most people I know means, that you work, pay your taxes, have choice of what school you children go to, do not expect to have hand outs.
On the other hand Conservatives I know will take advantage of them if our labour government has made them available taking the view that under conservatives you may not get the extra family credit etc but you would not be taxed as high and therefore have the choice of what you spend your money on and not need the family credit that labour have introduced.

they don't even run the Fox feed until 7:00 PM.You will also get a sense of just how difficult and serious this Iran situation is. Very "troubling", to use one of the dems favorite words. In this case, it really is.
