Last week, on a thread about the upcoming release, I was "fabbergastic" at the number of FReepers who agreed he should be back on the streets, since Il Papa had done the foregiveness thing.

Anyone who believed release should be based on victims' forgiveness needs to remember that the purpose of detainment is not merely for victims' revenge. The true reason for his release is the fact that he'd served his time, and since he didn't show, perhaps the sentence wasn't long enough.
