Except for the fact that the Phoenix judge just effectively ruled that the unborn are not people .

He sholuld explain that to the jury that convicted Scott Peterson of TWO counts of murder.

yeah, this should hinge on whether you're for or against abortion. If you are for abortion, no HOV lanes for you:).

If we can't say unborn babies are human enough for HOV purposes, how are we ever going to get around to protecting their right not to be shot.

I understand the intent of this law, but I can't support the judge's decision because it does not acknowledge the life inside this woman. I think you have pointed out that we still have far to go to protect the life of the unborn. It's either a person or it isn't. It's either a life or it isn't.

The HOV signs do not state that each passenger must be in his or her own "seat." And after the President signed legislation which would allow the federal government to recognize and charge a person responsible for killing a pregnant mother and thusly, the baby inside her womb, with double homicide, it seems we've turned back the clock.

So, according to the judge, the unborn baby doesn't count. However, if a drunk driver were to swerve into and kill both mother and unborn baby, there would be two persons who died in the vehicle. I guess what I'm trying to say is...this ruling protects the working commuter, and completely disavows the fact that the unborn is in fact, a person.
