FOR THE second year in a row...the population of Massachusetts has shrunk.
It was one of only three states to end the year with fewer people than it had at the start -- New York and Rhode Island were the others -- and the only one to do so for the second year running.

Western MA is essentially a seperate state from Eastern MA.
I grew up in Eastern MA, my family still lives there. I didn't know there was a world beyond the 128 loop until I was in my 20's. This cloistered mentality is par for the course in eastern MA.

You are right, I had a small home in Plymouth, great place, but the commute to Boston was 40 miles one way and three hours total....that sucked. And the politics suck, you can't be a conservative in Mass. So I moved, to CT, which isn't much better politically--but the commute is much better, nice place to live, you can raise a family and have family time. I live in a good conservative town.
I have found CT is not quite (yet) as liberal as Mass. You still have working class Dems, Repub congresmen, and even a (supposedly) R governor. But the economy is flat in CT, the Govt taxes everything it can, I would love to move to NH or a good conservative Southern state.
Then there will be an exodus from those states.
These liberals are so stupid they don't know what they're doing to themselves. They vote in these socialists, then leave when things go bad, but continuing to vote for socialists in their new state!
Bring your family and your Conservative Ideals to Montana. We can use them :)

That's because we have a very low rate of churchgoing.
Actually, that's not a bad idea. I was stationed at Malmstrom AFB in the early 80's. Sure gets cold up there, though. But there's nothing like the Rockies and Cascades.
Try the Flathead Valley around Kalispell (I live in Columbia Falls just 16 miles north of there).
Beautiful Valley and the winters aren't as bad as they are East of the Mountains.

NY needs more then just slots. the whole casino environment is missing - food, shopping - its a nice place to spend a day out.
NY loses a ton of tax revenue to NJ and CONN because of this.

Legal population of Massachusetts has shrunk. If you count illegal aliens, the population is probably growing.
The campii of MIT and Harvard are relatively conservative but it is the ne'er do-wells like BC, BU, NU, Simmons, Merrimack, Wellesley, Babson, Holy Cross...etc that really twist this state.
Personal Anecdote-> I know why 6 people left: A young couple with 4 kids recently had an sister inlaw read queer kiddie lit to their kids, behind their back. Solution set: The young mother basically told Massachusetts hubby that she is going back to Texas with the kids and he, of course, was encouraged to come along.
Do Not underestimate the fudge packer quotient.

That's funny, I went to Boston over the New Year and noticed way too many metros and guys who looked like wimpy dorks who would jump in front of their mother if the Shiite ever went down.
Just like it worked so well in France and the rest of OLD Europe.
i moved from Mass about a year and half ago. I now live in Georgia. Several reasons contributed to my decision to leave: The economy, the politics and the fact that I was denied to vote on the homo marriage amendment.
I'm a consevative that moved out of Mass to georgia.
