Daniel Drops In Week Two (Ratings sink)
Broadcasting & Cable ^ | 1/16/06 | John Eggerton

It its second chapter, NBC's controversial drama Book of Daniel averaged a 2.2rating/6 share in the Nielsen Fast Affiliate overnight ratings in the 18-49 demo Friday night.

That is down significantly from the 2.9/9 the show recorded for its two-hour debut the Friday before.

A handful of stations have dropped the limited series--8 episodes--over content concerns with the edgy drama about a prescription-drug addicted priest and his dysfunctional family.

The top show of the night Friday was CBS drama Numbers at a 3.7/11, followed by the results show for ABC's Dancing With the Stars, which won its time period with a 3.3/10.

The 3 NBC stations on my satellite dish haven't dropped this program, mainly because one is in NYC (one floor below the network itself), and the other two are owned and operated by NBC/Universal.

Guess we know what Hollywood must do.

No, not cancel it.

Taking a cue from Brokeback, this show will be nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe.

Kinda blows the "negative-press-only-boosts-ratings" theory all to hell . . .

Buhbye, Daniel.

Yeah, good idea. Take a Christian nation, make a leader in their faith an Alky and put it on the night of the Jewish sabbath.

Here is a better idea. Bring back all in the family but make Archie Bunker a white, middle class business owner who the libs are killing because of all the PC stuff out there.
Now show Archie as the victim.

Hit show.

I don’t know about that. It looks like the negative press got people to look at the pilot but after seeing the pilot they didn’t think it was worth a second look.

Problem is, people would identify TOO much with this character. Then they wouldn't find it particularly funny any more... too much like real life.
