Recall of Gov. Blanco gaining support
The Louisiana Weekly ^ | 1/16/06 | Christopher Tidmore

Posted on 01/15/2006 9:45:30 PM PST by LdSentinal

In an exclusive, The Louisiana Weekly has learned that www.recallgovernorblanco.com has received over 400,000 hits in the 48 hours since its founder Kat Landry filed the recall documents with the Secretary of State's office on January 10.

Landry needs over 949,000 signatures or roughly one-third of Louisiana's registered electorate to bring out a recall election against Governor Blanco. The St. Martinville resident began organizing the effort in the weeks after Katrina when she said she saw "a criminal lack of leadership by the Governor."

"Louisiana cannot survive another two years of Kathleen Blanco," Landry told The Weekly on last week.

"The people of Louisiana need the chance to say 'we want a change'."

The hurdle of almost a million signatures must be reached within 180 days by law from last Tuesday's filing. Adding to the difficulty, an individual cannot simply sign the petition online. Documents must be either downloaded from the website or requested from the Secretary of State's office and then signed with a witness present.

The petition also requires the signee to put his ward and precinct number, a legal requirement beyond the knowledge of even most chronic voters, though Landry revealed that eminent modifications to the website will help provide that information.

Well it's a good thing she's postponed the election indefinitely. :)

Recall is a very difficult thing to acheive. See our recall effort here.

Recall Group Site

We needed 1658 signatures and got just over 1400 before running out of time to collect them.

Blanco deserves to be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail, but this recall effort is doomed. Louisiana's recall statute is prohibitive. Signatures of one third of all registered voters? Ain't gonna happen. My concern is that the attempt may backfire... Blanco's backers can gloat about a failed recall attempt as indicative of voter support.

While they're at it they might as well go for a twofer and add mayor Ray to the list.

Nagin is up for reelection in Febuary, if they ever allow the elections to happen. It can't come soon enough. I think he will get the boot.

She's screwed. The La Weekly represents the greatest group
of Democratic supporters. Good!

Based on her past behavior, I predict that if the heat gets turned up she will resign.

Blanco forever more will represent what not to do and how not to act in an emergency. Her actions were pathetic.
Benedict Arnold forever represents betrayal and Mrs. Blanco forever will be viewed as a desgrace.
Wait a minute she has to go do her hair and change her outfit so she looks just proper in whatever emergency, I mean isn't that what's important?

She was just doing what she was told to do!
I'd say her governorship was more like intentionally criminally negligent

This system was set up to keep this kind of thing from happeing. Those numbers are nearly impossible in this state even if there is no time limit. However, I wish the organizers the best of luck--I only wish I could sign.

A Joke, Kidnapped... (too funny)

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on the I-110 in Baton Rouge.

Nothing is moving.
Suddenly a man knocks on the window. The driver rolls down his window
and asks, "What happened?"

"Terrorists have kidnapped Kathleen Blanco, Ray Nagin, Mitch and Mary
Landrieu. They are asking for a $10 million ransom. Otherwise they are
going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. We are going
from car to car, taking up a collection."
The driver asks, "How much is everyone giving?"
"About a gallon"
