I had a neighbor who swore that Reagan closed down his foundry. From the stories he told, it sounded like the Presidential limousine pulled up to the gate, the Marine band played Hail to the Chief, and Reagan got out and put a big golden lock on the front gate of the plant.

And as a result, the only sizable bloc of union members left in Ohio are government clerks, and they won't stray from the 'rat plantation no matter who the GOP runs or how clean it is. In fact, since a large plurality are black, Blackwell may be the best candidate we have to take a bigger bite of the union vote.
This is 2006. "Unions" doesn't mean UAW, Steelworkers, AFL-CIO, and Teamsters anymore. It means SEIU, NEA, and AFSCME.
