My guess? Some of the writers maybe from Pravda, and are used to writing in Russian. The NY Times must be a division of Pravda.LOL!

Mary Mapes would say that the burden is on us to prove the photo fake, not on the NYT to authenticate it.

Even lawyers, which I know are not popular 'round these parts, would have a good belly-laugh at someone applying such a standard. The laws of evidence disagree with Ms. Mapes.
