Tuesday, January 10, 2006 Talk of a hotel being built in time for the 12th Imam's reemergence
Iran Press News: Translation by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzzi. Discussions have been being held in the Islamic Parliament around the idea of building a hotel in order to accommodate pilgrims who wish to worship the 12th Imam, upon his reemergence [in the town of Jamkaran]. Mullah Mehdi Karoubi, the former minister of the interior and defeated presidential candidate, made the proposal; he has forecast that the 12th Imam “will reemerge within the next year or two”.
However, Ahmadinejad's own site FARDA, reports that Javad Aryamanesh, the member of the Islamic Parliament from Mash'had who sits on the cultural council stated: "We have it on good authority that anyone who specifies a date for the reemergence of the Mahdi, is a liar. Surely Mr. Karoubi jests when he says such a thing; he probably just wanted to have a bit of fun when he made those remarks. There are no plans for any hotels, however it's natural that places like Jamkaran, Qom and Mash'had, being that they're holy sites, will attract large crowds of the faithful from around the world and our tourism board will certainly look into responding to those pilgrims needs."
