When I clicked this link, I was certain it was a parody. They can't be serious...
But, of course, they are. They have to ban knives because people just can't be trusted with knives in the home.
There really is no lower limit to how far they will go to "protect" people.
While they're at it, they should ban those pointy-looking accessories you can put on a motorcycle. I mean, someone could get hurt!
And what about pointed sticks?
Church key? Good God, those were confiscated decades ago!
Officer : I'm arresting you for possession of a Butcher's Knife.
Chef : Filet
Officer : And thats a charge of sexual harassment!
I knew a girl once who could do that with a can of Spam...
"Trouble with a santoku is that you can't rock the blade to chop."
True.
It's mainly the save-cleaning-another thing factor (i.e., using it as a spatula).
That, and it looks really cool.
Wrong! It's bricks and stones that should be banned! Very lethal in the wrong hands.
BTW, in WWII when the Japanese controlled the Phillipines, they made everyone clip the points off their swords and large knives, in effort to better control the local population.
I have two favorite knives - a 7" chef's knife and a 5" boning knife. I have some others, but those are the ones that get all the use in my kitchen. If I have to chop a huge pile of onions, I'll get out my 10" chef's knife, but 95% of what I need gets done with those two.
Also, things that are blunt are banned, and things that are heavy are banned, and things that are blunt AND heavy are RIGHT OUT AS WELL!!!
Well, lets see... that about cover it then???
This week, the Alexandria, Louisiana Town Talk (thetowntalk.com) has reported several recent but completely separate incidents where someone comes home, finds that a family member has eaten their pork chops, and proceeds to stab them.
Why is it always pork chops, that's what I want to know?!
Doctors claim long kitchen knives serve no purpose except as weapons
"55 of 108 homicide victims were stabbed by a sharp instrument"
Man, I'd want to be one of the 55. Those others had to be writhing in pain after being stabbed by blunt instruments.
Are The once proud Scottish people still allowed a dirk in the sock?
They also have the highest rate of street violence anywhere and it seems that the Scottish liquids they over-consume may have something to do with the problem.
they can pry my 10 inch chef's knofe out from my cold, dead fingers - to coin a phrase.
Knofe=knife
Fortunately, the technology required to create a knife w/pointed end is beyond the abilities and means of thugs and other social misfits.
Thus, the pointed knife ban should work.
Also, consider a sharp knife ban.
All knifes to be dulled by law.
Will end all crime as we know it.
Take all the knives out of the kitchen and an out of control spouses will go for your throat with their teeth.
What's next? Removing all teeth?
